Naples and Pompeii: Full-Day Tour from Rome with Lunch
US$133.10
Overview
Explore UNESCO-listed Naples and the iconic ruins of ancient Pompeii on this full-day tour from Rome. Start your adventure with a tour of Naples’ historic center, stopping to snap photos of the Royal Palace, admire the San Carlo Opera house and stroll the lively Piazza del Plebiscito. After lunch (included), journey back in time as you discover the remarkably preserved ruins of Pompeii, which date back to the 7th century BC and include the world’s oldest surviving Roman amphitheater.
What to Expect
Depart from central Rome for a full-day trip to Naples and Pompeii, including lunch. The tour includes your pick-up from a centrally located hotel. In case of B&Bs or appartments you will be asked to reach our departure point on time.

Stop first in Naples for a tour of the historical center, including Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, Piazza del Municipio, the Gallery of Umberto I, and the San Carlo Opera house.

Continue on to Pompeii for a tour of the excavations of the city, which was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. This archaeological journey will give you the opportunity to better understand a way of life typical of the Roman society at that time. It’s possible to see the intact remains of people, domestic animals, and food that show some evidence of the final agony felt by the people in those last few minutes before the city was so disastrously buried.

Stop for lunch (included), after which you'll be taken to a coral and cameo factory to admire and possibly purchase items of this ancient craft.

At the end of the visit, you will return to the coach for the journey back to Rome and be dropped off at your centrally located hotel or other central location.

Worth doing

The shopping mall trip was a waist of time for us. The Naples walking tour was worth it and we were fortunate to have a great guide who also took us onto Pompeii and also provided us with some great in sites into Pompeii. It...More

A well-organised day trip

We booked this trip through our travel agent and only read the reviews just days before our trip and so became quite worried. However, we had an amazing time! The day ran like this: 06:45 Hotel Pickup in a minibus (we were in a centrally...More

Do it on your own

The day started at 7.30am. We stopped for a bathroom break and then stopped in Casino for 45mins at an outlet mall. Ummm??? I don’t see this on the brochure!? Obviously the tour company receives some kind of kick back for our stop, but be...More

Skip Naples and do Pompeii

Naples was a waste of time, as was the "lunch"--just bring your own to save time and money (and find another trip). Guide for Naples and Pompeii was unintelligible, could not understand a word (bus guides were OK). Not the nicest either. In short, do...More

Let's generalize this question, maybe it will be of more interest to others: Are there specific hotels they pick up from, or is there just a boundary that is considered to be "Central Rome" that they will pick up from any... More
