Rome is known for its rich food culture, but with so many options it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Get off the tourist path on this walking and eating tour, which allows you to visit some of the city's best culinary locations without the hassle of navigating or researching where to go. Meet some of Rome’s traditional food artisans, stroll through the city’s buzzing food markets, and sample Roman specialties such as pizza, cannoli, and fresh pasta. Between bites, your guide details the history, architecture, and untold stories that define Rome.
  • Visit top Rome culinary spots and taste traditional dishes
  • Steer clear of tourist traps without spending time researching
  • Overcome language barriers with a guide who knows what and how to order
  • Meet artisans and sample local food and wine
What to Expect
The tour begins with a traditional Roman breakfast, during which you can enjoy your choice of coffee and watch as a chef prepares fresh cannoli. The first stop after breakfast is the Paciotti Gourmet Shop, where you can taste cheeses and meats along with aged balsamic vinegar, truffles, and local wine. Next head to Pizzarium, where renowned Chef Gabriele Bonci, often called "the Michelangelo of pizza," makes more than 80 types of pizza per day. Then, stroll through the largest food market in Rome and meet local families who have been running food stalls for generations. Taste buffalo mozzarella, bruschetta, and eggplant parmigiana along the way. After the market you will visit a traditional trattoria, where you can sample local wine and choose between fresh carbonara (pasta with an egg-based white sauce), amatriciana (pasta with red sauce), or cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper pasta). The tour wraps up with a scoop of Italian gelato at Fatamorgana Gelateria, where more than 60 different flavors are available.
