Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour from Rome
From US$151.97
Overview
If you have time for just one side trip from Rome, make it Tuscany. Leave the transportation and logistics to someone else on this guided exploration of the Val d’Orcia region. You can simply relax and enjoy a walking tour of Montepulciano, a stop at Sant’Antimo Abbey, along with free time to stroll and shop in UNESCO-listed Pienza. Fuel up with an included 3-course lunch and wine tasting.
What to Expect
Board an air-conditioned coach in central Rome, and journey into the rolling countryside of Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia region.

Stop first at Montepulciano, a 15th-century hill town famed for its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano red wine. Hear about its wine heritage on a walking tour, seeing highlights such as the clock tower, cathedral, and town walls.

Next, venture into the area around Montalcino. Visit Sant’Antimo Abbey and gaze across the vineyards as you hear how their grapes are used in Brunello di Montepulciano wine. Head to a farm and enjoy a glass of Brunello with a 3-course lunch. Other select local wines are also available.

Next up is Pienza, one of Tuscany’s UNESCO-listed treasures. Here, spend your free time exploring the historical center, designed by Pope Pius II in the mid-1400s. If you’re a foodie, hit the shops to buy Pienza’s coveted pecorino cheese.

Your Tuscany tour then finishes with a drop-off in Rome.

Montepulciano and Pienza

Our meeting point was Piazza del Popolo at 7:15 am. After an enjoyable drive through a beautiful countryside we stopped at Montepulciano for the first part of our tour. Klaus, a local imported from Germany 30 years ago, was our guide for this part of...More

Great trip!

We wanted to visit Tuscany without having to make a separate hotel accommodation and travel to a new spot from Rome. This was a great compromise. Kylie was a great guide for the day. If you get a chance, do the cheese/oil/vinegar tasting in Pienza....More

A great day out with an informative and entertaining guide

This was a truly memorable trip into the beautiful countryside of Tuscany visiting ancient walled towns, churches and a vineyard. Our tour guide, Peter, gave us a potted history of the Roman Empire which covered most of a university degree course in Ancient History. This...More

The perfect visit to Tuscany without any headache!

We booked this excursion as a way to visit Tuscany while not having to change hotels, move with our suitcases, plan transportation, and everything else needed when staying in multiple cities. I am so happy we made this decision as it was one of the...More

I, too, think it would be difficult to take a wheelchair on this tour. Montepulciano and Pienza are hill towns. The streets are steep and uneven in Montepulciano. Walking up and down the streets can be quite strenuous... More

We did not get picked up at our hotel. Since we had to meet them early in morning, we took a taxi to Piazza del Popolo to meet tour guide. Guide took us to bus which was near by. Was a nice day trip out of Rome.
