Overview
In our tour we will show you that Italian cuisine is more than just pizza and pasta, there is so much variation and regional differences! We will try to give you an overview of the Roman cuisine and you will learn the 'do' and 'don'ts' of Eating in Italy. We will tell you interesting stories about the food, regional recipes, and we will introduce you to local vendors.

Everything you will taste is very simple but made with high quality and locally sourced ingredients. Among the tastings there are some staples of Roman cuisine as well as dishes revisited in a gourmet way.

As a backdrop to our walk, Trastevere will surprise you, especially because our tour goes off the beaten paths, through the intricate alleyways and hidden corners.

Throughout the tour, your private guide will inform you on essential tips for experiencing the local food of the city; to ensure that the rest of your time in Rome you can explore the best of the Roman cuisine and culture like a local.

Highlights
  • Enjoy plenty of food samples and a wine tasting at local eateries and establishments
  • Taste pasta, cheeses, dessert, gelato, regional wines, and more
  • Soak up the sights, scents, and tastes of Trastevere’s alleys and byways
  • Learn about Roman cuisine from your guide in a group of no more than eight
What to Expect
Greet your guide and small group on Isola Tiberina and stroll through the characterful Trastevere neighborhood, with its medieval architecture and narrow lanes. Learn how Rome’s culinary traditions and culture intersect as you meet, greet, and taste.

Along the way, sample local cheeses in the maker’s store, street food in the Jewish Ghetto, dessert in a family-run cookie factory, and pastas in a historic inn. Taste regional wines, try the best gelato in Rome, and learn the difference between artisan gelato and ice cream: On weekend mornings, visit a local farmers' market too.

Your tour concludes in Trastevere, where your guide is happy to arrange a taxi or direct you to the most convenient public transport.
