Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- P386HRroberts0 contributionsElisa Made My Wife's Trip to Pompei UnforgettablePompei has been on my wife's "bucket list" since we were married -- nearly 42 years. We scheduled this trip 5 times during the pandemic -- and cancelled it 5 times. There was a reason for this -- and the reason was Elisa -- our tour guide for the 6th time! She is fantastic!!!! She is what every professional tour guide strives to be -- a subject expert, a mesmerizing story teller, and that person who you just want to sit down with and listen to for hours. From the moment we set off from the front gate, ubtil 2 hours later as we were exiting, she made you feel that you lived through the eruption of Vesuvius on October 24 79AD. And her anecdotes of the living conditions in that time and how they are relevant today, were great! Bravo to you, Elisa -- my wife cannot stop talking about you-- and thanking you -- for making her trip to Pompei a "highlight" of her life.Written March 18, 2024
- LoriM2970 contributionsAn outstanding experience with ElisaWe enjoyed this tour very much and were so happy to experience Naples and Pompeii. Elisa is an excellent guide - warm, friendly, humorous and knowledgeable - a highly recommended outing. THANK YOU!Written March 15, 2024
- Vacation2623920 contributionsPompeii not to be missedPickup well organised. Met guide at Pompeii (Erica) who was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and informative and moved the group through the ruins at the right pace giving enough time to stop and take in the experience. Answered all questions asked. Nice lunch, main course with 3 choices. Moved on to Vesuvius but weather prevented the final climb as it was closed for safety reasons. Disappointing but understandable. However cost of entry is to be refunded.Written March 5, 2024
- MMPJMH0 contributionsThe guide makes all the differenceWe decided to definitely take a guided tour of Pompeii to ensure we got the most out of it. Our group was about 20, and our tour guide, Elisa, was the absolute best. She has been in the business 30+ years, and not only knows her stuff, but she delivers it with polish and a fantastic sense of humor. Listening to her stories of the history of Pompeii and its people, she really bridged the gap between centuries and made it easy to imagine wandering the 79AD Pompeii before calamity struck. She moved us at a perfect pace, gave pertinent information, kept the group corralled and moving, while entertaining us from stop to finish. Well worth the $ on many levels.Written March 1, 2024

- Molly F0 contributionsFrustrating transportationOur tour guide was fabulous, but the transportation and organization of the travel was frustrating. We were on the bus for an hour before we even left Naples, picking up other passengers and waiting for late passengers. There was too much travel and downtime.Written February 20, 2024
- G8012CWdavew0 contributionsGood tour. The tour itself was very good. The tour guide shared many interesting historical facts and stories. The shuttle driver did not know English, and everyone else getting on spoke Italian, so we did have some anxiety that we may not be going to Pompeii. However, it did work out.Written February 11, 2024

- tjcnt0 contributionsVery informative, great if you have limited time. Our hotel wasn’t on the list for pick up, so was a short walk to a meeting point, which was no trouble. The pick up was running slightly late, which was messaged to me, so no problem. We were driven to Pompeii where we were met by a guide and moved into a larger group. The tour of Pompeii was great Erica was informative, we saw some amazing things. We were humbled and extremely thankful that we got to see this in our lifetime. There is so much to see you could spend the whole day, however we were on a time constraint to get a train to Rome in the afternoon, so the half day suited us perfectly. The only suggestion is that the bus driver on pick up could explain what to expect. We had no idea until we got there, we thought the driver was the guide.Written December 4, 2023

- belzkoch0 contributionsNo time spend at Vesuvius.Vesuvius was closed they said the day before our excursion was going to take place. We could cancel the whole trip or we could go to pompei and climb Vesuvius spending some time on the top of some viewpoints. We were picked up at 10. Were at Pompeii at 11. Had our tour. Lunch. Drove to the entrance of the park where we had a stop. Nothing to see there. Went back. Half way back another stop at the viewpoint. That was all. This was very little of what they promised or suggested. Only the entrance fee will be returned. My advice. Low season: take the train and get your guide. This adds no value at all. Now we spent from 10-16:30 just for two hours Pompeii. They should have dropped the whole afternoon program. Or give us the option choosing only Pompeii and be clear. Be precise! Now they suggested more than they could offerWritten November 26, 2023

I had a really disappointing experience with both the booking office and my guide on this tour. I signed up for a tour in my native language and availability was confirmed. When I was picked up with the other passengers, the guide said in Italian to the driver “ugh, multiple languages. only one xx speaker!” she then proceeded to give the tour only in Spanish. Embarrassed, I asked her if she could also speak in the language I signed up for. She turned to me and said “do you really not understand any Spanish?” I was really taken aback. She then explained to me how inconvenient it would be for her to repeat everything in the tour for just one person and that everyone else would get bored and angry.
I called the booking office when we arrived in Pompei and explained the situation to them and they told me that when there is a booking where most of the people speak one language, they cannot guarantee that the tour will also be in your language. That’s a lot of money to spend for only getting every other word! They made it seem like it was my fault that I didn’t speak Spanish. It was only until I explained that I spoke five languages and Spanish just didn’t happen to be one of them that they relented.
Eventually they agreed that the guide would translate for me as well but she made me feel so guilty the whole time. Even at the end she repeated that everyone else on the tour had to wait for me in the cold while she explained to me.
It’s too bad, because otherwise she was a good guide. But unless you want to be embarrassed for asking to speak in a language you’re most comfortable with (and paid for!) I would pick another company.

Pickup was a real disappointment. Night before I was sent a note that pickup would be 40 minutes earlier at an unknown hotel. I wrote back with correct time and hotel. Didn’t hear back til next morning that oh k up fine was in fact that much earlier-at 2 minutes before. I ran out of the hotel barefoot to make the pickup after which we went to the next stop and waited at least 30 minutes for an eventual no show.
Rest of tour was good.

The host Francesca was very knowledge and attentive. The transfers were comfortable and on time etc. The actual tour itself was a bit disappointing - we received radios so we could hear the host in the Group.- there were c.25 of us. I had thought a small Group was more like 8 to 10 people - the radio got quite annoying to listen to for that duration of time - least I found it annoying also bring a hat / something to create shade and bring water in high season.

Really enjoyed the half-day tour of Pompeii. A van picked us up at Hotel Desiree in Sorrento the driver was very nice, but caused some to feel anxious because of his beeping his horn and angst while driving to Pompeii. Upon arrival, everything was organized. We were met by staff who walked us to the Pompeii entrance, where we met our very informed, English-speaking tour-guide, who gave us personal radios to hear her every word. The trek was not that difficult (some steps and walking appx 2 hours on ancient stone pathways). The guide (said she was from Naples) was very informed and added humor and interest to the tour and Pompeii's history. I would definately recommend this half-day tour. In March, it was a little chilly and the rain held out until the very end of the tour. The ride home was much more calm!

The driver from hotel to Pompeii was highlight of the trip. He provided some commentary about sights on the way and even stopped once for a photo opportunity. Pompeii is fascinating but honestly, the rest of this tour was rushed and impersonal with very little attention to detail. No information about pickup time. I had to contact the tour company more than once to confirm this and was still given incorrect information. With 30+ people in the group there was minimal time to see anything in Pompeii. I felt like the thousandth tourist for the day pushed and rushed through by an exhausted staff just turning the crank. I recommend you consider a private or at least smaller tour. Just going on your is better than this.

We did this tour today as a family of four with an 11 year old and a 19 year old.
We were picked up near our hotel. Temperatures today were about 32 degrees. The mini bus had 10 travellers and the air conditioning wasn't really efficient enough to keep us cool.
An hour to Pompeii and we were met by our guide Maria and joined by more than 20 other visitors to make a your of more than 30. It's obviously really busy at Pompeii, and it was a bit confusing and manic. The tour lasted 2 hours. Just 10 minutes free time inside to take pictures or stroll. We were then left for 30 minutes outside Pompeii with all the overpriced drinks and tourist junk to buy. Also outside the attraction you have to pay 50 cents to use the toilet, but it's free inside.
The whole tour felt like a tired production. Very disappointed that there wasn't more free time inside and that we didn't get to see the visitor centre.
Also it was hugely overpriced for what we got. If we had paid to get in ourselves my 11 year old would have been free and my 19 year old would have cost €2. However with this tour all of us were counted as adults and were charged £65 each.
The queue to pay to get in wasn't that long and it's high season, so really worth making your own arrangements to pay to enter.
Overall, disappointing and felt a bit ripped off.

My Husband and I took this tour on our last day in Sorrento. We are so glad we did! The time line was perfect and two hours at the site was just enough for us to get a good feel for what life was like for the people of Pompeii before the eruption and what it looked like after.
Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and she keep the group engaged with good questions and facts. She made sure everyone had time for photos of the various sites before moving on. I really enjoyed her sense of humor and she was able to answer detailed questions that the group had. I would recommend this for anyone looking to hear about the history and walk the site.
