- MsAnnC0 contributionsA Huge Hit!!We had family and friends visiting us in Valencia and spent a big part of the day learning to shop for and make paella. So engaging and fun!! Carolina is amazing — she really knows her stuff and has such a great personality for this kind of teaching. My guests could not say enough about it—all 8 of us, including teens, had a great time.Written March 15, 2020
- texascajun10 contributionsBetter than 5 stars!!!We had such an amazing time at our cooking class that began with a trip to the Central Market to shop for the ingredients for the authentic paella dish that we later made. Diana and Pepe were both very good but also so much fun! While the paella rice was cooking, they treated us to snacks of mussels and a potato & egg dish and white wine. Then, we got to eat our creations that were so delicious! And, the red wine was also great! Overall, a most wonderful experience!Written March 11, 2020
- 100paulr0 contributionsDon’t miss this authentic València experience!Outstanding! Very fun and informative and absolutely the best paella We’ve ever had. We found our trip the central market very interesting and a great start to our experience. The end result of our paella was very tasty as well as the wine that went with it!!! A really fun day and a must for anyone visiting Valencia. Remember, no lemon!!!Written March 10, 2020

- janjK2781CY0 contributionsA top school for learning how to prepare Paella Valenciana (in just 4 hours)The school is situated in the older part of Valencia (El Carmen). Inside the building there was a modern restaurant-like setting, with a big kitchen aside of the middle. There are 3 cooking sessions a day. I would advise to take the first one (starts at 10.00) because then you also visit the famous Mercat Central for shopping the vegetables (and fish for the seafood variant of paella). This was done under guidance of the charming assistent of the Meastro. By returning we immediately started in the kitchen. El Maestro de la cucina introduced each essential part of the whole process, but after that each particpant had to repeat it again. The process was accompanied with some rituals. It was a very educative and tasty session, with many moment of laughter (the Maestro had also much unexpected humor). At the end everyone had to eat its own meal, under the pleasure of a good bottle of wine (or else). I can fully recommend this course to everyone (don't be a tourist, become an Valencian !). The location/setting was good, the Maestro and his assistance were top, and I was very lucky with the other members of the group (Americans, Japanese, Germans and Dutch). My tip: take part of the course in the early part of the year or in the later part in the year. It is than much quieter, less hot, and the groups are not that big (we were with 9 people, perfect).Written March 7, 2020
- jshook950 contributionsVegetarian paella cookingWe had a fantastic time with maestro Carolina and the lovely Maria. We went on a Tuesday, so there was only myself and my friend, and another couple who were cooking a seafood paella. We were greeted, and soon made it to the central market where a few details about our ingredients were explained. When we made it back, we were invited to relax for a moment while the kitchen and our stations were prepared before we were set to chopping and stirring. Carolina and Maria made the process fun and interactive, and gave us some useful tips and tricks for our own cooking along with imparting their wisdom about paella. They explained the basics without getting too technical. Once all the water was in, we had a 30 minute break, where we were served wine and Spanish tortillas and muscles. It turned out that they'd been looking after our paellas in the meanwhile. Once everything was ready, we sat down to eat, with some more lovely wine to accompany, and lots of photo opportunities throughout. The food was delicious. And they served us a rice pudding after too. They really were lovely hosts and overall it was a fantastic experience and fantastic value for money. The only fault I would give them, was that although we had let them know ahead of time that my friend was vegan, they hadn't catered for this, and tried to serve her non-vegan starter and desert with no alternatives. But otherwise a lovely experience, with a few momentos to take away as well.Written March 4, 2020
- Bled_SloveniaCilka0 contributionsGood fun, great way to get to know more about Valencia and its foodMaria and chef carlota, thank you so much for a great day in Valnecia. It was a highlight of my visit. I was the only foreigner, accompanied by four Spanish ladies and we had so much fun. I can't cook well but it was all explained so well that I can hardly wait to try it at home. Not to mention good wine, mussels and the tortilla during the break. Joining this class is a must in Valencia. It starts with the visit to the beautiful market, buying the ingredients and a lot of infomration about Valencia and its food. Thank you so much!Written March 3, 2020

- louisc7940 contributionsBest Paella in Valencia! Perfecto!Overall, it was an enjoyable and entertaining experience at the class! We made a trip first to the central market to pick up the key ingredients required for the paella, explaining the differences in ingredients required for a Valencian and Seafood Paella (mostly from earth for the former, sea for the latter). After returning to the kitchen, we got our hands into cooking the seafood broth, and finally the paella rice! It was fantastic! We had good wine and mussels for snacks while waiting for the rice to be cooked. The seafood paella turned out well and crispy, accompanied by white wine! We even received a diploma! We can’t wait to try out cooking the Paella back in Singapore!Written February 24, 2020
- Eric B0 contributionsThe best lunch in ValenciaAn excellent way to spend a morning in Valencia, with a first class lunch included (Paella with starter and sweet). We cooked the traditional Valencian Paella with chicken, rabbit, snails, tomato and beans, and we were given a lot of advice on how to do the job correcly and make an authentic dish. The visit to the market was interesting (the market itself is one of the best I've ever seen and well worth a visit in it's own right), and our guide, who spoke good English, was friendly and helpful. We were in a small international group, so meeting the other pupils and talking over lunch was an enjoyable part of the experience. This course is highly recommended to all visitors to Valencia, and even if you've never cooked anything before, you'll finish up with an excellent paella.Written February 23, 2020

Booked onto this Paella class thinking it would be enjoyable. It certainly was but so much more than just a class. We arrived and were greeted by the Chef and host, introduced to the other 'students'. We then went into the (immacutatly} clean kitchen and set to. WOW. It was fantastic. At one point when the paella had to be left we returned to the restaurant and had our starter. Then we went back to finish the paella which we then took outside to photograph and then eat. Absolutely delicious. The whole evening was a delight. Chef and instructor were so welcoming and entertaining, food and wine was abundant and I got to learn how to cook an authentic Paella. Great evening Thank you so much.

Learned how to cook a real València paella with the kids. Really good practical instructions and get to do it all yourself (with a partner). Instructor was very passionate and helpful and all translated for non-Spanish speakers. You get to eat your paella and other starters along with some nice wine. A fun, educational experience. Something the whole family can enjoy together. Not suitable for kids younger than teens.

This was a pleasant evening experience for our gang. It was a nice way to spend three hours and we learned a few things about cooking paella and enjoyed some lovely wine and appetizers along the way. I highly recommend this class if you are a relatively inexperienced cook and want to gain some basic knowledge about how to produce a dish like paella. It was nice to meet the other participants and listen to Chef Pepe share his knowledge and his humor with us. That said, if you are experienced in the kitchen, the creation of this meal will feel somewhat basic and that will detract from your enjoyment of the experience.
The set-up is clean and well done and the equipment is top notch. Still, it's an expensive dinner and educational experience for what you get.
Pet Peeve: if everyone pays the same price, you should not put parties of three over one paella pan because it makes it really tough to learn that way and it's not the same value as if two people are sharing the experience. Better to tell people the class is booked or tell them they will be three to a pan and charge less.

Dear customer,
we appreciate your comment about the cleanliness and about how fun our activity is, however, we would like to clarify a couple of points of your review since, being it public, distort the expectations of future customers.
First of all, we want to explain that this is not a professional course, it is a cultural workshop designed to enjoy and give you an insight of the experience of cooking an authentic Paella, as Valencians do. This experience is based on sharing, collaboration and teamwork, so we explain it during the course and on our website before booking.
If you were expecting a professional course, maybe you ended up in the wrong place. In any case, as professionals, we do not recommend any professional course that for € 65 -75 € offers four hours of learning in first class facilities and with an excellent meal included. Even if they give you a diploma.
Secondly, the minimum paella we make is for three people (there is a technical and culinary reason that is explained in the workshop) and we try to keep the people who come together united. In any case, we understand your comment but it is a matter of our operation and it is the only way in which we can combine the satisfaction of the client and obtain certain profitability when people come without companions.
Lastly, we can not agree in any way that the experience is expensive. One of the most repeated comments from our customers is the superb quality-price of the service. You have paid a price per person similar to what you would have paid for a menu of equivalent quality in a restaurant and, in addition, you have had at least three hours of cooking class and, in the morning shifts, a guided tour to one of the best markets in Europe. We regret that it seems like an "expensive dinner" but completely disagree.
----
Estimado alumno.

My wife and I were visiting Valencia with family this May and signed up for the paella cooking class. It was great fun. I think we ended up spending 3 hours cooking, dining and chatting. The chef was wonderful. The facilities were wonderful. The food was wonderful. Everything turned out well. The kitchen is spotless and well organized. All the ingredients are in your cooking area so there is no confusion over amounts, measurements, etc. Then the dining hall is a long table with plenty of room. Plenty of wine is served. I would highly recommend the class for anyone who has an interest in paella.
The only negative thing that I would say about the course is that the school was exceedingly difficult for us to locate. The school is located on a small street in-between two larger streets. Part of the problem is that street signs are in both Castilian and Catalonian, so it becomes difficult to find in Google. Interestingly, our Old Town walking guide (the day before) could not locate it either. Bottom line, if you don't know where it is, leave yourself plenty of time to find it. Hint: There is a "Beers & Travels" bar at the end of the street.

Took this class with my husband in April and had a blast!!! We have already recommended this experience to several of our friends. Carolina, our teacher, was amazing and tons of fun! Diana, our interpreter, was friendly and helpful. The class was full on fun surprises. If learning to cook paella a la Valenciana in a relaxed group setting is your thing, then this is the place for you. We can't say enough great things about our experience and will definitely return next time we're in the area.

This was truly a magnificent experience in Valencia! Chef Pepe was so informative and funny and really spent time answering questions with a passion for Valencian cuisine. His translator and our host Diana was fab too! She really made everyone feel welcome throughout the entire evening! I didn’t know what to expect from this but I was amazed at their organisation, the cleanliness and layout of the kitchen and how inviting everyone I met was! Truly a terrific night with so much food and wine included. If you’re thinking about it, just do it! ☺️

We really enjoyed our experience at the Paella class. We joined a class of 14 people (all English speaking) and spent several hours learning the art of cooking Paella valencian style. The class is very interactive with the chef demonstrating each stage of the preparation and cooking and then allowing each couple to follow the instructions. There was a lot of fun and the chef was a real character - although his jokes may have lost something in translation from Spanish to English! There was a break in the cooking where we all sat down for some wine and a starter before returning to the kitchen to finish the cooking and then we went back to the restaurant area to enjoy our Paella with more wine and then a sweet course. Everyone on the course seemed to get on really well and we all chatted with each other and then cheered when the presentations were done at the end of the evening. In total it lasted about 4 hours and was good value for money considering that it included a three course dinner with wine.

Hi - I would contact the school and discuss - it is quite crowded in the kitchen but it would depend on how busy it is for the night. Would your toddler sit and colour in etc in the dining area - you could pop in and out to check and it is only a few feet away?
