Ávila and Salamanca
This tour departs from Madrid and includes the guided visit to Ávila and Salamanca, the entrances to the Cathedral in both cities and the transportation back to Madrid.
From US$93.00
Overview
Travel from Madrid to Spain’s medieval, UNESCO-listed cities Avila and Salamanca. Visit the Avila Cathedral and Basilica of St. Vincent in Avila, and then head to Salamanca to see its famous university and Plaza Mayor. Enjoy a hassle-free experience with comfortable round-trip transport from a central meeting point in Madrid and all of your entrance fees included.
What to Expect
Enjoy the scenery as you travel to two of Spain’s most beautiful cities, Avila and Salamanca.

Drive to Salamanca as your guide sheds light on this UNESCO World Heritage Site, well known for its 12th-century university and glorious medieval and baroque architecture.

Enter the historical center, and admire the sandstone-built Plaza Mayor, regarded as one of Spain’s most beautiful grand squares. Also see the Old and New Cathedrals and the exquisitely carved façade of the entrance to Salamanca University. Plus capture the splendid city views from Salamanca’s partly restored, arched Roman Bridge.

Along the way, hear how UNESCO-listed Avila is one of Spain’s best-preserved medieval cities and still girded by its original walls. Discover why it’s known as the City of Stones and Saints, and admire the walls with their crenelated towers and gates.

On arrival, explore some of Avila’s attractions with your guide, including the fortress-like cathedral, the Shrine to St. Vincent at the Basilica of St. Vincent.

Afterward, enjoy free time for lunch (own expense) and to explore independently before your return to Madrid. Your tour then ends back in Madrid.

Fantastic, tour run by an excellent guide.

The day itself was spectacular, our guide seamlessly navigated between both English and Spanish and ensured everyone was included. Whilst there was a lot of driving, it was broken up with stops to ensure that it wasn't an issue. The tours around the towns were...More

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Jose Miguel Anchez, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He spoke equally in English and Spanish, was happy to answer any questions and give advice. He did not waste any time on factories that would try to sell stuff...More

Not to be missed

I enjoyed the tour, our guide did a good job in the presentation of both remarkable places. The only drawback was very short time we had for individual exploration.More

Nice trip

We enjoyed this Avila/Salamanca day tour. The guides and chauffer were great. The only thing we would change if for the tour guides to give the two cathedrals tour instead of the audio guide.More
