Avila with Walls and Segovia Day Tour from Madrid with Optional Lunch

Select Date and Travelers
2 travelers
Admire the city of Ávila, where you can climb the walls, visit the outside of the Basilica of San Vicente and the outside of the Cathedral, and walk through the Convent and the Museum of Santa Teresa. Get to know Segovia, where you will visit the Roman Aqueduct, the Plaza Mayor and enter the Cathedral and then go to the Alcazar. Last but not least, you will be able to choose between three types of lunch with typical products of the area.
  • Save time and energy by letting a guide and driver deal with logistics
  • See two of Spain’s greatest attractions in one day
  • See Avila’s UNESCO-protected walls and Segovia Cathedral
  • Upgrade for a Segovian feast-lunch with a roast suckling pig
  • Hassle-free, round-trip transportation from Madrid
What to Expect
Head to San Nicolas Street in central Madrid to board your air-conditioned coach to Avila. Your guide will tell you the history of the pilgrimage site, which is also the birthplace of the Spanish mystic, Saint Teresa. At the Four Posts (Cuatro Postes), see one of best-preserved medieval bastions in Spain. Visit the city walls, towers, churches, and the tomb of a martyred saint, including alabaster Avila Cathedral and the Basilica of St. Vincent. Then reboard for the trip to Segovia’s city center, where you’ll see a two-tiered Roman aqueduct, one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Spain. Continue to UNESCO-listed Alcazar, an 11-century fortress-palace. After a guided tour, head to Segovia Cathedral. Take some free time for lunch (at your own expense) or upgrade for either a simple meal or Segovian feast. Then, return to Madrid where you’re dropped off at the original departure point.

I thought there was plenty of time for both towns, not much free time in Avila but I felt there was enough time spent there. If you opt out of the lunch in Segovia , you have plenty of time to wander around.
