Small-Group Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial Walking Tour from Berlin
From US$20.62
Overview
Take a sobering trip inside Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp during this 6-hour tour with a small group. See camp landmarks like the infamous ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ (work sets you free) sign and the Jewish Barracks, plus much more. Best of all, your trip is led by the only non-profit tour company operating at the site, ensuring 100% of proceeds go to the memorial and good causes.
What to Expect
Meet your trip guide in the morning in front of the Berlin TV Tower in Alexanderplatz. Then travel by public train to Oranienburg and continue on foot the short distance to the camp entrance.

After paying your entrance fee (own expense), enter inside the camp, passing through the main entrance gate and ‘Tower A’ with its infamous ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ (work sets you free) sign. You’ll continue exploring camp locations like the Jewish Barracks, roll-call area, the former prison, and the Jewish Barracks. Your Sachsenhausen experience proceeds next to ‘Station Z,’ the site of the camp’s gas chamber and crematorium.

Head next to the camp’s infirmary and pathology areas, and view the perimeter towers and fences. You’ll also learn about Sachsenhausen’s use by the Soviets following the end of World War II. At the end of your visit, there will also be time to ask plenty of questions. It’s a powerful look inside a chilling period of history.
