  • Discover Berlin’s Cold War history and view its most famous sites, such as the location of the Berlin Wall
  • Save time negotiating the busy streets with a professional tour guide and specific itinerary

  • Travel by foot to familiarize yourself with the town, while learning more about the wider impact of the division and its causes
What to Expect
Meet your guide at Zoologischer Garten underground station and hear an account of the changes Berlin underwent after the Second World War, from the capital city of Nazi Germany to a city that came to represent the clash of two superpowers. Then, follow the former site of the Berlin Wall and its “death strip”. Learn more about the many attempts to escape as you walk along Bernauer Strasse, toward the last remains of the wall itself at the Berlin Wall Memorial. The next stop is the Brandenburg Gate, an important but everchanging symbol throughout the history of Berlin. As you tread the very streets, learn more about what life was like behind the wall, gaining insights into the German Democratic Republic, before concluding your journey in the centre of East Berlin or Alexander Platz.

Barnaby, our tour guide, really made the excursion what it was. He was knowledgeable and super friendly and was not afraid to make fun of himself or us (which we really enjoyed). It was the perfect amount of tour, travel, friendly conversation, free time and history.

Pip was our tour guide and she is smart and interested and makes great conversation. She is incredibly knowledgeable and ready so answer all questions about this complicated history. Most importantly, and what sets Pip apart is how intuitive she is - it was colder and more windy
