Overview
Learn about the history of Munich’s Third Reich on a walking tour with a local guide. Find out what the city was like under Adolf Hitler’s Nazi rule and discover the buildings that were key to his agenda. Taking in sights like Führerbau, Haus der Kunst, and more, it’s a perfect tour for history buffs who want to get to grips with Munich’s World War II history.
What to Expect
Head to Marienplatz to meet your tour guide and then set off to discover Munich’s wartime sites with your group.

As stories of Munich’s history and the era of the Nazi-ruled Third Reich ring in your ears, discover key landmarks, such as the Führerbau building in Königsplatz. See Brienner Strasse, the street that was believed to be heavily linked to the rise of the Nazi party, and learn about the Allied bombs that rained down on the beautiful Bavarian city.

Other sites of interest include the art-laden Haus der Kunst and the one-time Gestapo head office, where Hitler’s fearsome secret police worked. Get the lowdown on the resistance and postwar movements, and learn about vergangenheitsbewältigung, a word that translates into English as “overcoming the past.”

Finally, return to Marienplatz for the end of the tour.
