Regensburg Rail Day Trip from Munich

    What to Expect
This full-day tour begins at München Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station in the city of Munich. Travel approximately 1.5-hour by train to the Bavarian city of Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the only authentically preserved large medieval city in Germany.

Begin with a guided walking tour of the city’s Old Town neighborhood. Regensburg is the oldest city in Germany and a number of its historic structures span several thousand years, including ancient Roman, Romanesque and Gothic buildings. See landmarks like the Christmas Market at Neupfarrplatz, Old Town Hall and Regensburg Cathedral that still define the character of a town known for its tall buildings, dark and narrow cobbled lanes and strong fortifications.

Visit some more of Regensburg’s popular attractions, like the Old Stone Bridge that crosses the Danube River, linking the Old Town with Stadtamhof and historic Wurstkuchl, the oldest sausage kitchen in the world.

After the tour, enjoy some free time to explore the city at leisure, perhaps returning to Wurstkuchl for lunch.

The tour ends with a return trip to Munich.

The tour was great. There was a storm on the way back and the trains were shut down. It wasn’t Radius’ fault and nothing they could have done. Don’t let this deter you but it is a possibility. The train was a more comfortable way...More

Would have been around 18:30, but a freak hail storm stranded us. All train service suspended. I took an Uber back after having dinner to wait for the train to start again.

It’s about a 45-minute bus or train ride from the airport to the main train station via the Lufthansa Express bus or the S-Bahn train.
