Make your own way to the tourist office in central Amboise to meet your guide and small group of no more than 8 people in time for a 9.30am departure. Traveling by air-conditioned minivan, set out on the 50-minute journey to Chambord and soak up the scenery as you wind through the rolling countryside and lush vineyards of the Loire Valley.
Arrive at the Château de Chambord and take time to admire its grand façade, a masterpiece of French Renaissance architecture and one of the most photographed castles in France. Accompanied by your guide, head inside to explore the 16th-century castle; see architectural highlights such as Leonardo da Vinci’s staircase and the royal suites of François I; and enjoy spectacular views over Chambord Park. Finish your visit with a coffee break in the beautiful château gardens.
Stop for lunch (included) at a château restaurant hidden off the tourist trail, then set out to Chenonceau. Along the way, catch a glimpse of some of the region’s other castles, including Amboise, Chaumont, and Clos Lucé.
One of the most iconic of all the Loire castles, the Château de Chenonceau is a fairy-tale brought to life and you’ll have plenty of time to take photos before heading inside. Enjoy a guided tour of the historic castle, marvel at priceless art works and tapestries, then gaze out over the glittering Cher River and stroll around the magnificent gardens. Finish off your visit in typical French style, with a traditional aperitif and a tasting of regional products.
After a full day exploring the Loire Valley, return to Amboise at around 7pm, where your tour ends back at the tourist office.
