This was a very interesting day with a great guide Nic. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. I would do the full day if ever there again. It's a don't miss
Following a 7 am pickup at your accommodation in central Paris, take a seat in your luxury van for the journey to the Normandy beaches. The van is a very comfortable and spacious eight seater. Fully air-conditioned and equipped with lots of modern gadgets, it is a perfect vehicle for a day long tour.
Your private guide brings the region’s WWII history to life and the tour takes you to the key sites of D-day landings including a visit at the Pointe du Hoc - 100-foot (30-meter) cliffs overlooking the English Channel. It is one of the most impressive sites, accompanied by a heroic story of the US Rangers which had to climb the steep cliffs under heavy German fire. Here you will be able to step into and explore the German bunkers.
A “must stop” at Omaha Beach – Dog Green sector; perhaps the worst area on the beach, directly in front of the German strongpoint’s (the Dog Green sector fighting is pictured in the opening scenes of the movie Saving Private Ryan)
Visit and guided walk through the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer which overlooks the Omaha Beach. Possible stop to its Visitors Center.
Lunch in the picturesque fishing village of Port-en-Bessin known for its delicious scallops, mussels and fish & chips (own expense).
Visit Arromanches-les-Bains (remains of the Mulberry Harbour) and sightseeing of the Gold Beach (British sector of the D-day landings).
Stop at Pegasus Bridge - the first military operation of D-day. Best know from the movie The Longest Day "Hold until relieved"
As well as stop at the British Commonwealth cemetery where British, Australian, New Zealand, Polish, French and German soldier rest in peace side by side.
Other interesting stops possible – depending on available time and your own interest. Then, return in comfort to your Paris accommodation at around 8pm.
The tour is a great for “history buffs” but as well for those who has little or no knowledge of the war history. The region and its stories are just breathtaking for whatever is your age or interest. Children friendly, a “Must To Do” day tour from Paris!
“If you have a relative that participated in the battle of Normandy or you are just simply interested in a specific division or army, do not hesitate to inform us about it while booking the tour. In this case we can do the necessary research on individuals or their divisions and perfectly personalize the tour for you!”
