Make your way to Paris' Opera Garnier, where you’ll meet your guide and group. Listen to your guide talk about the Charles Garnier–designed building, one of the largest and most opulent opera houses in Europe.

Step carefully over the inlaid mosaic floor of the Member's Rotunda, and then snap photos of the main staircase (Grand Escalier), covered with bronze friezes of Greek gods and goddesses. Hear about how Opera Garnier inspired the setting for Gaston Leroux’s novel The Phantom of the Opera (and, later, the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber).

Visit the impressive auditorium, and see the Grand Foyer, where patrons take a break between acts. Learn about Garnier's inspiration and his goals to make the building look like a typical French chateau. Afterward, you you can continue to explore on your own.

Upgrade your tour to visit the theater after hours, which means less crowds and a more intimate atmosphere.

Our tour guide was Rita de Cloe. She came in on her day off and, for me, it was worth every second. She was informative, engaging, kind, and hilarious. I wish I could bottle her up and have her explain every part of France and...More

Worth booking the tour

The tour itself was very good. The guide gave us lots of interesting information and facts. With the tour you are allowed down onto the floor to sit and take pictures and ask questions. My only complaint was that trying to enter the building and...More

I booked this tour since it was close to my hotel and we had some time before leaving Paris. I was a welcome surprise and now I would recommend it to anyone visiting Paris. The ballroom is much better than the mirror room in Versalles....More

Worst tour I've taken

This was the least informative tour I've ever taken led by perhaps the most stereotypical rude French people. Firstly, our guide did not introduce herself. Her English was sub-par and barely explained anything of relevance. She gave no opportunities for questions. When I asked her...More
