Overview
Explore the storied history of Edinburgh’s Old Town on this ghost-themed walking tour, during which you can see sites linked to hauntings and murders, descend into the South Bridge vaults, and stroll through the city’s cobbled alleys. Your guide, dressed in period costume, will provide informative narration throughout the tour, which departs in the early afternoon for a family-friendly atmosphere.
What to Expect
Your tour begins at Hunter Square on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, where you meet your guide and set off on foot to explore the city’s Old Town.

Stroll through Edinburgh’s cobbled alleys (wynds), hidden closes, and courtyards while you learn about hauntings, crimes, and mysteries from your guide.

Next, descend into the city’s underground vaults, located beneath the historic South Bridge. Explore the dark chambers, listen to eerie ghost stories, and watch through a section of glass roof as pedestrians walk unknowingly overhead.

Your tour ends in Old Town, where your guide departs.

Next Time, Haunted!

Had a great time touring the Vaults and down the Royal Mile; with our guide, Hazel. Hearing old stories of its history and the scoundrels, rouges and their interesting part in their demise. Love to join the ghost tour, next time.

Although the guide was knowledgeable, we felt a little disappointed with our tour, it was more historical than scary and people that had not paid and were not wearing issued badges joined the tour without being challenged by the guide.More

Interesting tour and great value for a family.

We really enjoyed our tour with Major Weir. Perfect mix of history and spooky tales. Our boys aged 8, 11 and 13 all loved it. Would highly recommend!
