What to expect
Your relaxing 3-day country tour begins in Edinburgh, where you meet your guide in the morning and board a top of the range, 16-seat Mercedes mini-coach. In your small group, leave behind the city for the beautiful Lake District south of the Scottish border, speckled with dramatic peaks and charming villages that inspired writers like Beatrix Potter. As you make your way to the English town of Keswick, visit popular towns North and South of the border before arriving at the Lake District National Park.  Situated in the English Lake District, the quaint town of Keswick is your home base for the next two days. Your accommodation is located in town, easy walking distance to restaurants, cafes, and shopping. From here, tour the majestic Lake District National Park. Wind along the shores of Lake Windermere and Ullswater, and stop into the lovely town of Grasmere, where charming limestone cottages tuck into verdant hills. Throughout the trip, enjoy plenty of downtime to independently explore. Your multi-day excursion concludes at the starting point in Edinburgh, arriving in the evening.

Great tour, great guide!
Aug 2021
A fabulous trip. Travelling with Rabbies allows you to see so much more and to visit places you didn't know about and to learn about the history of the area whilst you're there.
Ian was a very good help to me as I have mobility challenges and he was happy to lend an arm. I think this is my fourth Rabbies tour and it won't be my last!

A very good introduction to the Lakes! Just make sure you book things before!
Jul 2021
Just finished a really lovely 3 day Lake District tour from London that went super smoothly with Dom hosting!
This is my second Rabbies tour and won't be the last and this particular tour is a great introduction to the Lake District (from someone with zero prior knowledge of the area!).
COVID restrictions are a bit tedious still, for example you have to book attractions such as Beatrix Potter weeks in advance and there was no where to eat dinner on both nights as everything was full/too long a wait time. Perhaps Rabbies do already tell you this but as I jumped on very last minute I may have missed the email but you do need to book restaurants in advance.
Dom was very knowledgable about the area and could tell generally loved his job, thanks again!

Discovering the beauty of the lakes
Jun 2021
Well organised tour with the fantastic tour guide Roger. He knows the area like the back of his hand and was passionate to tell us all he knew about the places he had taken us. The tour itself was very breathtaking with magical views of mother's nature work. Lovely places full of things to see and learn suitable for any group category. I opted for the agency to find an accommodation and it was close to the town centre, clean and welcoming.

Great Taster of the Lakes
Oct 2020
I had never been to the Lake District but have always wanted to. I'd previously travelled with Rabbie's and so was confident that they would ensure we saw as much as we could and that their guide would be knowledgeable and friendly - I was right on all counts.

It was obvious from the start that James (Moorish) not only knew a lot about the places we visited but that he also loved everywhere we were going. As such he knew all the best spots to eat, take pictures, and quiet spots to just enjoy the beauty that surrounded you. I'm sure that all of the guides who do the Lakes Tour are great, but if you're lucky enough to get James then you will be in the hands of someone who is just as excited to be there as you will be.

The Lake District is a beautiful place, I particularly loved Ullswater, but all of it - even in the rain, is breath-taking. On this tour you get to see so many of the lakes without feeling that you're being rushed to get to the next spot. I highly recommend taking a walk around Derwent Water if you can at sunset - not necessarily the whole thing because it's huge, but I'd walk for at least a bit, the colours off the hills is stunning.

I absolutely recommend this trip to anyone thinking about exploring the Lake District. It'll give you a great overview of the whole area and hopefully encourage you to come back.

Wonderful tour guide, sights and lodging
Sep 2019
Some years back, friends of ours told us that the Lake District was a beautiful place to visit, so during a recent trip to Scotland and Ireland (September-October), we took this 3 day tour from Edinburgh. Our tour director, Jude, was wonderful! She was also the van driver and did an excellent job of driving and maneuvering it in all kinds of weather and road conditions. Her narratives were very easy to understand and she presented them in a story-type fashion instead of by just rattling off dates and places which can get confusing and overwhelming at times. In between narratives and during times of extended road travel, she put on UK folk music that was a delight to hear. Jude was always positive and engaged well with participants. We visited all of the places listed in the tour description and a few more. And, YES, it is a beautiful place. The weather was very cool and rainy but we managed to get sunshine at just the right times to get off the van to view numerous sights and do a good amount of walking as well. We would recommend taking rain jackets, umbrellas, gloves, hats, headbands and quick-drying wool socks. The B+B lodging in our home base of Keswick for 2 nights (you choose the type of lodging ahead of time and they arrange the reservations and transportation; there are several options from which to select) was very nice and the breakfast provided was made to order and was very good. The B+B host was very friendly and helpful and provided us with maps of town and gave us good recommendations for restaurants that were within a short walking distance of the lodging. We would highly recommend this trip!

Panaromic Lake District
Jul 2019 • Solo
Recently back from a 3-day tour to Lake District from Manchester by Rabbie's. The pristine beauty of the Lakes , the Mountains ,the Mist and Meadows has left me spellbound. Our tour guide Dominic had exceptional driving skills and was also very knowledgeable. He shared a lot of info on the geological and historical aspects of the Lake District, along with
fantastic stories of associations of Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and Coleridge with this region. He even made a short stop to take pictures of the cows and sheep in the grasslands which I found was a cute gesture. The connectivity by train was very nicely arranged . This is my 4th tour with Rabbie's and have always found them very satisfactory in all aspects. I definitely recommend this tour in particular because of the panoramic beauty of the place and the famous associations it has.

Great Tour to the Lake District!
Jul 2019 • Family
This was my second time travelling with Rabbies on a tour and I must say that I left being very satisfied once again! Last year I went on a stunning and amazing tour to the Isle of Skye, and this year I decided to go on a different tour with my parents to the Lake District from edinburgh.

We were well taken care of by our tour guide, Andy D. He was very friendly and meticulous throughout the tour, making sure everyone was comfortable and happy. I would definitely recommend the tour and am looking forward for the next one with rabbies in the near future.

Lake District fun
I joined this tour from Edinburgh after a visit to the Highlands. Our tour guide, Andy D. immediately put everyone at ease and made us all friends. What a fun and beautiful tour! Rabbie’s organized our rooms for us at a local B&B, which was comfortable, clean, friendly and within easy walking distance to local shops and restaurants.
This was my second trip with Rabbie’s and I can’t wait to go again!

Must see corner of the world
May 2019 • Family
The lake district in Mid may was stunning. The world is blooming around you. Hillsides covered with Bluebells, landscapes filled with gorse and scotch broom. Purple rhodedendrons everywhere you turn. I couldn't imagine a landscape more idyllic. Sheep studded the pastoral lush green hills rising above the deep blue lakes. Its no wonder Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter made this area home, and it inspired their poetry and prose. The little towns are all so charming and picturesque.

Rabbies was the way to see this area. No stress of driving yourself , all we had to do was enjoy the beautiful landscape at every turn. The small bus , expertly driven by our wonderful guide Jeff was able to maneuver all the narrow roads and get us around to where the big buses just couldn't go. Jeff told us so much information about the area, stories about the people who lived there, the history. He was easy going , and had a great sense of humor. One of the best guides out of all the 4 Rabbles tours we have gone on over the years. He even dressed in Scots attire with Kilt and sporran for the final day. He genuinely seemed like he enjoyed touring us around and it wasn't just his job. He took us on a daily hour long hike around the lakes which allowed us to drink in the area even more deeply. He must have coordinated this with the everchanging forecast , because the sun seemed to come out each time.
