    Interesting and historical experience
So much history. The Beefeater tour was fabulous. The Crown Jewels were jaw dropping and the fact that you are standing by a 1000 year old fortress is mind blowing. Loved it all.

Takes you back to British history
It was good to learn about the significance of this monument in the British history while touring this place. It's quite a large place and can take time to cover the entire thing. Do wear comfortable shoes for the same.

    Amazing Tour Guide, Beautiful Grounds
Unbelievable tour guide! Cannot remember his name but I think it was Hyde? He has two daughters that live on the grounds. He had our group laughing the whole hour and was so knowledgeable. We did the 10:00 am tour on March 1st. Took another 1.5 hours to walk the grounds after our guided tour. Great experience!

Great Yeoman tour and fascinating history
The tour with Yeoman Warden Darren Hardy was excellent! He told many stories of the tower in a very amusing fashion, though I expect some of the kids may have nightmares! The tour was very useful for learning the history of the Tower and the lay of the land without having to pay for an extra guide. It ends right on the green, and the guard was changing right when our tour ended so we got to see that as well--the tour was from 2 to 3. It was right by the crown jewels which were an awesome (in the literal sense) experience, although it does make one reflect on just how much wealth has been looted from the British people and British colonial possessions for the benefit of a wealthy few. Would recommend arriving on the half hour for the Yeoman tour. You could probably spend all day at the tower but give yourself at least two hours at a minimum--an hour for the Yeoman tour, plus seeing the other sights.

Universal credit gets unfair massive discount
The place is great, such awesome history. What my gripe is, is that the tickets are £34.80 (£38.30 with donation) per person. Therefore for a six adult tickets for those that work and have tried to give to society and better themselves its £208.80 (£229.80 with donation). But if you claim Universal Credit and/or other certain benefits those same tickets are not 10% or 20% cheaper but are just £1 per ticket per person for up to 6 people with just one needing to be a benefits claimant so £6 for six people instead of £208.80. Why does the working public have to subsidise those that can't be bothered to earn a decent living or in many cases can't be bothered working?

Tour Tower of London with Family Audio Tour
We did the Family guided tour and had a wonderful time. The children narrating the tour were very entertaining. The family there did not include certain portions, but we were able to see those on our own anyway. Would recommend the Family Audio guides for any families with young children.

Iconic glimpse of medieval times, best seen in nice weather
My wife and I saw the Tower on a rainy day in February. It was her first trip to England. I had been there once before, on a hot sunny day in August a few years ago. Seeing this medieval castle in the middle of London is like taking a trip in a time machine. The tower is surrounded by a defensive wall. Inside the wall are multiple buildings including a chapel, zoo ( without the animals), the famous White Tower, and several others. Visitors are allowed access to the top of the defensive wall which connects to several of the buildings. The crown jewels are on display in one of the buildings. One of the best parts of seeing the Tower of London is the tour conducted by one of the local Yeoman of the castle. Of note, the tour we were given was held indoors and was very abbreviated compared to the outdoor walking tour I was given a few years ago, no doubt because of the bad weather. In addition, views of the Tower bridge and Thames river were OK during our February visit, however were spectacular during my summer visit. If you have the option, I would strongly recommend going to the Tower of London on a clear day rather than a rainy or foggy one.

A must see when in London
We visited on a Friday at Midday and we stayed for 3.5 hours to take it all in, we didnt use the audio and we didnt need to as there is enough information throughout the tower. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend to everyone. All the Yeomen were very friendly and on hand if you had any question.

    Pleased we went but......
Good: we had pre booked £1 tickets. Queue to collect these moved quick and then no queue to enter the site. Brilliant with 3 kids in tow. Crown Jewels excellent. Needs travelators in a few more spots as some people are just incredibly selfish and rude. White Tower excellent. Lots to see, well organised and plenty of interactive kids activities to break up the reading and walking. Toilet situation was no issue...no big queues as we were expecting and well placed around the site. Disappointing: ravens in a cage. What a let down. Spent 2 mins there. Bloody Tower...good graphics and storytelling but not much to actually see here and could see was boring for younger kids. Same for Torture at the Tower. We were in there 10 mins at the most. Terrible: Beauchamp Tower. Panic inducing crush of people in a tiny space trying to get out of the rain. One way in one way out and zero staff managing the situation. Cafe. Oh my god it was a nightmare. Not enough seating. Tables packed together with little space. School parties and families just taking over entire sections so that lots of seats were singles and you couldn't get to them. And the prices! Was almost £60 for 2 kids plates (schnitzel and fries), one burger, one kids plain ham sandwich. One cookie to share and 4 cans of pop. A can of pop was £4 alone. Just absolutely shocking. Our £1 tickets did qualify us for discount but beware this is not on all items. We went on a rainy day and while there is nothing we can do about the weather and we were prepared for this in terms of clothing etc, it spoiled the day. Slippy cobbles, slippy stairs, everyone wanting to cram indoors rather than wander about outside, nothing happening outside, everyone wet and miserable. Such a shame. We were only able to do this trip as we qualified for cheap tickets. The prices would otherwise have been prohibitive for us. We avoided the gift shops after experiencing the cafe. I am pleased my children were able to experience the Tower of London even if there were elements that were disappointing and so I am grateful the offer exists, however for anyone else thinking this will make the visit accessible to them.....take in your own food. Try and pick a day that will be dry! Impossible in this country I know but a picnic outside would have made our day much more enjoyable. If you have young kids do White Tower somewhere in the middle of your day as there are lots of little games for them to try and it breaks up all the reading and climbing. I think there could be more interactive educational bits like this as someone else has said.

    Disappointing, especially for younger kids
A little disappointing - we last visited maybe 25 years' ago and so little has changed. Apart from some excellent graphics in the Bloody Tower (why don't you have more like this?), it's still an extraordinarily unexciting experience. We had hoped for something that would interest slightly younger kids (grandson is 8) but it's all read and you can't touch. Nothing is really made of the weaponry(what about some grophics to show how crossbowmen used slit windows?). It's a lot of money to pay for such a sterile environment.

    Amazing Historic Tower
Me and my friend went there, it was a great afternoon. We brought tickets online. When we got there, there were no queues at all, so we walked straight in! The staff were fantastic apart from the security. Walking around the different rooms where Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII stood - was just an amazing experience! And we saw the Crown Jewels! Wish I brought the audio guides now. Definitely go there for a visit!

    long queues
had a great day out. It was a long queue to get in but once it started moving it went quickly. There were some long queues once inside to see the jewels so we took a long look around instead.

My favorite tourist spot in London.
This was my favorite tour in London, I loved the historical history of the castle, it was a short walk from my hotel. I did the self guided tour so I could take my time. I was there for over 4 hours and I think I could have spent another 4 hours. I am certainly glad I left a day open to visit.

A gem even without the gems!
Such an amazing place! Came with the family and we did the walk along the walls and went into the keep, which is amazing, we didn't see the crown jewels but we definitely will on our next trip!

Visited here on a cold February morning. Booked in adavnce (internet) and skipped the wait at the entrance. They opened at 10 o'clock (Monday in winter) and we made our way straight to visit the Crown Jewels and there was no line waiting to go in. Afterwards we went back to the entrance for the Beefeater's excellent guided tour to the Tower buildings and stories of famous personalities (included in entrance ticket price). Later on we saw long lines waiting to view the Crown Jewels. I was surprised to discover that visiting when crowds are smaller is more fun.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Tower of London. Visited at 12 midday, last week of July and I expected it to be very busy but it wasn't perhaps due to the pandemic and minimum tourists so it made the visit more pleasant. So glad the yeoman warder tour was back on,big shout out to 'Shady' who was informative and fun bringing all its history to life. Would recommend hiring an audio guide for adults & older kids as you walk through each section of the tower for £5 each. Spent around 3 hours here, well worth it.

Went on a Friday during school holidays but wasn’t too busy, loads of people but not so many you couldn’t walk through the various rooms and areas to see the exhibits. Listened to one of the yeoman give a history of the Tower, he was really entertaining and knowledgeable and could happily have listened to him all day. I personally wanted to see where Anne Boleyn died and was buried, but there is so much more to see and learn.
As with every tourist attraction in London this was a very expensive day out. Food and drink was fairly mundane in the cafe but absolutely astronomical prices (£7.99 for a very basic sandwich) so I’d recommend you bring your own packed lunch.
For the history and experience I’d recommend this to anyone who is able to climb hundreds of steps and doesn’t mind some degree of crowds.

We went in school holidays so expected it to be busy and it was!
We had booked tickets for the 10:30 to 11:00 slot but arrived at 10:10 and had no problem being admitted.
On arrival one of the Beefeaters advised us to go straight to the Crown Jewels and we are grateful he did - we walked straight in. We were in around 45 minutes and when we came out the queue was already snaking around and it just got longer throughout the day.
We took a Beefeater tour with Gary and it was 45 minutes of pure entertainment and information. Look out for him.
There were queues everywhere but only the Beauchamp Tower took what we would regard as any length of time (@ 25mins) everywhere else was only @ 10mins.
We were there on a good weather day which obviously makes a difference as queuing in the sunshine is much better. We enjoyed the walk around the battlements which gives a different perspective to the site.
We had the audio guide which was extremely useful for the extra cost.
Yes, it is quite expensive, but we were there 5.5 hours so felt it was value for money when comparing against other forms of entertainment.

Entry was 30 Pounds with 'voluntary contribution' that is automatically included in the price.

It is a great layout, you entry through one door and then follow it all around to the end. Although they needed a better sign to see the main entry door as I almost missed it.

The real jewels look great and it was really cool to be able to see them.

The old crowns are are on display and as all the expensive stuff was removed from them they look really shabby and fake.

The tower was not what I expected but it was good.

I really enjoyed the jewels the most.

There is a jewel gift shop tucked away but it is worth a look.

Went with my boyfriend during the beginning of the month and was so much fun especially as neither of us had been before. We had a tour by a Beefeater - I think he was called Dave/David - who was just fantastic, he was the highlight really! We recommend spending a good few hours here to really check everything out, as we had a train to catch we could only stay for around 1.5 hours. Great to see all the artefacts and royal items, and the history behind them all - was very educational! Great for all ages I would say.

Great improv!!! Most fun I ever had on a walking history tour. The Beefeater guide (Beefeater Kelly) was a hoot, interacting with the adults AND THE CHILDREN, keeping everyone's interest for the 1-1 1/2 hour tour. Everyone was on edge, in a good way, expecting Beefeater Kelly to ask a question to the tour group or ask for a response from the tour group. WELL DONE!!! I am going back next month to do it again!!!

Like all the Historic Royal Palaces, you should check ahead to see what sections are closed (there is always something) and whether there are any special exhibitions. Many rooms lacked detailed exhibit cards, so do your research ahead of your visit, or book a tour.

We pre-booked the first timed entry slot (9am) and the queues started to form about 30 minutes before that. We headed straight to the Crown Jewels (the main highlight of the Tower) and managed to get a few minutes viewing in peace before the crowds arrived. The exhibit cards here were very brief, presumably to avoid visitors spending too much time reading these and holding up the queues.

I have visited The Tower several times. On this occasion, I was able to visit the Chapel for the first time (entry previously restricted to the Beefeater tours) and we also enjoyed some of the newer exhibits - the Royal Mint and the menagerie sculptures. Sadly, due to knee problems, access to many of the towers (with their numerous steps and narrow spiral staircases) is now beyond my capability and we finished our visit in less than 1.5 hours. However, if you are fit and interested in history, I would recommend allowing at least 3 hours (more than 4 hours at peak times).

The Crown Jewels need no further introduction. The amazing royal regalia needs a very long queue to enter, we waited for about 45 minutes. I have visited the Diamond Fund in Moscow, and this is a little disappointing. Everyone rides on a travelator to see the Crown Jewels, and all you get is a few seconds glimpse.

The other parts of the palace was equally interesting, we had underestimated the potential of the castle grounds as a museum, and missed many other exhibits. As the one of the oldest palaces of the UK, it offers great insight to the history of the castle. Just like its sister Hampton Court Palace, a full day's visit would be recommended.

We recently toured the Tower and enjoyed it tremendously. Our Beefeater, Clive, was informative and funny...he made the day for us! There was so much we didn't know about the Tower of London and we spent nearly 3 hours there. Visiting in March was ideal as I imagine the summer crowds must be intense. The crown jewels and prison were highlights. A must see in London.
