A fantastic day, both the guide and driver were great. I thoroughly enjoyed the information and history shared by the guide, who offered many suggestions and encouraged any questions anyone had on the tour. I did this trip alone and found it perfect to see what I wanted in Stratford upon Avon, the cotswolds and Oxford in an easy manner. Would highly recommend.

The tour got off to a bit of a late start which was annoying since it was cold outside. It’s amazing to me how many folks don’t read instructions and think it’s okay to hold up a group especially when it says to arrive early. I suppose that’s not the fault of the tour company that customers were late.

Nevertheless, it was a nice day to see the sites and learn a little bit more about Shakespeare.

Breaks were sufficient to allow folks to purchase snacks and take a restroom break along our route.

Given the opportunity to use this company again I wouldn’t hesitate.

My family took this tour on 17 June 2018 and had a great time! Matt was our Driver/Guide who told lots of great stories and kept the bus group engaged while driving. Our bus group asked lots of questions on topics from history to politics and he happily entertained all of them. James was our guide for Stratford Upon Avon and Oxford, I would encourage the walking tours that he offers (free) as he has so much knowledge and insight to provide about the areas visited. Although I understand why/how the time is divided up between destinations, we would have enjoyed a little more time in Stratford Upon Avon. This just means we have to go back!

Dear Jason B, Thank you so much for your wonder 5* Review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your day very much with James and Matt. James is a very experienced tour guide and is excellent at this job. It really sounds like you a wonderful time and we are delighted that your family loved the tour too. We provide 2 hours in Stratford Upon Avon and wish we could give more time here but as you say you will have to go back to experience more of this wonderful town! We spend 2 hours in Oxford also. Our tours are a taster to experience more as there is only so much one can do on the day trip, time permitting. We hope to see you again in the future. Best Wishes, Day Tours London Team.

Our least positive experience during our recent trip to London; we were picked up (late) by a driver who, after asking us to put on our seat belts, then drove us for an hour and forty minutes without saying a word. We didn't know where we were going, we didn't know if and when we would get a tour guide; just silence. We finally picked up the tour guide, who lived near Stratford and didn't want to come into the city to be with us for the first hour and forty minutes. The driver was overly aggressive and made people nervous (tailgating, driving fast). The van had a terrible ride over bumpy highways. The tour guide finally engaged us, but nothing to get to know us or show any interest in us at all and continued to use a "trivia game" approach (e.g. asking us questions that we didn't know so that he could supply us with the answer). Some value-added by the tour guide, but it seemed so much was lacking. Lots and lots of driving for minimal staying at the three locations...guide would give some information at each location, but then leave us on our own (plus and minus for that). Then another hour fifty minutes having left the tour guide back in Stratford and we returned to London, alone in the van with no communication with the driver. It could have been so much better.

We had been to Oxford and Stratford before but were happy to return. We primarily chose this tour because of the chance to visit the Cotswolds. We knew of the area only through the Father Brown mystery series, but we wanted to see it in person. That part of the tour turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. We drove through the area and there were good explanations, but the bus only stopped twice in the Cotswolds, in each case at an intersection along the side of the road. Each time we were given about ten minutes to hop off the bus, take a picture or two, and get back on. There were a few homes near each intersection, and a church near one of them, but not much else to see. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was more than that. Not surprising that we didn’t see any other tourists around.

We enjoyed our visit to Oxford. After driving around and helping us get our bearings, they parked the bus near the Ashmolean Museum and walked us into the campus. We then had free time to explore Oxford on our own.

The experience was similar in Stratford. A drive around the town gave us an overview. Then the bus was parked near Shakespeare’s birth home and we were free to explore on our own. Even though we’ve visited here previously, we saw things on this trip we hadn’t seen before.

The start and end of the tour involves a long drive out of London into the countryside. Surprisingly, there was no presentation by the guide at these times. We might have expected an introduction to the culture (such as the educational system, the economy, housing, etc.) but there was nothing like that. We mostly sat in silence. The guide said that she was offering the chance to take a nap.

We were also surprised to find that we would be dropped off outside of London near a subway (Underground) stop in order to make our own way back to the city. This was mentioned in the itinerary but, for some reason, we didn’t notice that. Even though we are quite comfortable taking public transportation in Europe, we weren’t prepared for this and it took us some time and effort to figure out how to get back. In the end, our trip involved two changes of trains and over an hour of our time.

Dear OhioRon, Thank you for your review. We did stop in 2 places in the Cotswolds, for a photo stop and a look at the authentic houses . We did not say that we were going to be spending an hour in the Cotswolds. If you did not see any tourists around where we had stopped; I would have thought that this was an excellent aspect of the tour as we took you to a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of busy towns. We take a drive through England’s most famous countryside, the Cotswolds, admiring the breathtaking scenery on the way. The Father Brown mystery series you mentioned , was set in the 1950s and has been filmed in the Gloucestershire village of Blockley and other villages in the Cotswolds such as Kembleford and Winchcombe, Upper Slaughter, Kemerton and Guiting Power. It is possibly fair to say that perhaps you had an idyllic view of the Cotswolds and unfortunately, the Cotswolds did not live up to that view in reality. Cotswolds villages vary throughout and are not all typical. At each location you are guided through the locations , and are given an optional walking tour and then you can explore the areas at your leisure. I find it hard to believe that you sat in silence at the end and start of the tour. I am sure your tour guide gave a lot of information throughout the day also . It may have taken you an hour to get back in the evening, but if we were to sit in traffic it might have taken 2 hours or more. This is why we finish the tour at the designated drop off point. For all customers who wish to take this tour please see the drop off location at the end of the tour: We aim to return to London by 7pm approx. Tour finishes at Willesden Green London Underground Bakerloo line station (within the central travel zones 1&2), avoiding unnecessary evening traffic delays, and allowing fast access to all parts of London. Best Regards, Day Tours London Team.

We picked this tour because they didn't squeeze Windsor palace in a one-day trip like other tours did on Viator. We went in a comfortable coach to Oxford, Bourton-on-the-water and Stratford-upon-avon, respectively. You will spend most of your time in the latter. Rosy as our guide was extremely knowledgeable about everything. Her way of story telling made everything sound even more interesting. My husband and I got really intrigued with the story of King Henry VIII she told so we even bought a British history book to explore more! She was such an inspiration. Bourton-on-the-water was a bit disappointing for me. I thought it would be more breathtakingly cute but it was kind of plain. Overall, I was satisfied with this tour. Thumbs up.

Thoroughly enjoyed this trip - personable tour guide, capable bus driver. Wonderful day at beautiful Stratford upon Avon, Bibury village in the Cotswolds and then picturesque Oxford. What a treat to have a beautiful day to see the English countryside at its best! Only complaint was not long enough in Stratford upon Avon. Not a hope of seeing everything properly in the two hours!!

Our Coach driver Barry was also awesome having a joke and a laugh with us while we were at the sites.

I enjoyed this trip and our guide James was awesome with his trivia of the areas and the history of these towns. The only thing I wish was changed is a little more time in Stratford and a little less in Oxford. Even an extra half hour would have helped. If I ever went back I would want to spend more time in Sratford. The bus had wi fi and usb ports to charge your phone.

Dear Heather, Thank you for your review on our tour to Oxford, Stratford and Cotswolds. We are delighted you enjoyed your trip with James our guide. James is an excellent tour guide with lots of trivia on the designated areas. Sorry to hear that you felt you needed more time in Stratford Upon Avon but we offer 1.5 hours which is a good length of time in this pretty town. We are happy that you could charge your phone with usb ports and that you found the WIFI good. Thank you for taking the time to review this tour. Best Wishes, Day Tours London Team.
