About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- annjeanbeasley0 contributionsBeatrix Potter TourExcellent tour with Tim who was very knowledgeable, attentive and considerate. There were only 4 of us on the tour and he had time for all of us explaining what we were going to do. Two of the tourists were Japanese and he was able to speak to them for little bits in Japanese very impressed. Saw all the places that were relevant to the lady herself. Tour time was just about right, but perhaps would have to have a look around Wray Castle.Written March 18, 2024
- clairejT7443OO0 contributionsEnjoyable experienceA brilliant stress free way to get around the area. Tim our driver and guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for him (Thanks Tim) The trip had a perfect amount of comfort breaks and we had plenty of time to enjoy our lunch in Keswick. Would not hesitate to recommend. Well worth the money.Written March 15, 2024
- Vale_able0 contributionsPhil was amazing as tour guideAmazing tour through the Lake District. Unfortunately due to heavy rains on the day we couldn’t see much but our guide, Phil, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He knew a lot of the surrounding and hidden gems so even if we weren’t able to see a couple of lakes he drove us through other locations! I would recommend this tour if you are staying in the region!!! Thomas and ValentinaWritten March 15, 2024

Slight disappointment that we didn't take a couple of the high passes despite the mini bus having winter tyres. The tour itself was superb. The driver fabulous (Tony)
I completely understand that seats can not be reserved...however I and other solo travellers I had the opportunity to speak with so wish that mountain goat would do a very simple thing. And that is, please insist that couples or friends travelling together sit together, and leave the single seats for solo travellers. On my tour couples had taken the single seats, forcing the few solos to sit crammed up with strangers. I was crammed in with a man and it was extremely uncomfortable for both of us. It really spoiled the trip.
It's a simple request and would be greatly appreciated. With a little thought this issue could definitely be fine tuned somewhat.
The only other thing is when the tour reaches the pub it wasn't made clear that you could also walk a few minutes down the road and have a light snack at the Eskdale railway cafe if one preferred. In my opinion, could well have done without the train trip and spent more time for fabulous photo opportunities that we otherwise were a little rushed at.

Have just arrived back from this trip.
It was a great day, Wynroe and Hardnot passes being the highlight.
Muncaster Castle and the Hawk show was very good.
Bus was covid secure and was driven by Tony who gave an excellent commentary throughout the journey whilst being a very good driver on scary roads.
Can recommend this day out and Tony at the wheel.

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. This tour is an excellent introduction to the Lake District; you will not be disappointed. Our driver/guide Mark was fantastic; a real credit to Mountain Goat. The tour was very well organised and I felt completely safe (from a COVID perspective) the entire time. The minibus has had seats removed to ensure social distancing; is very clean and continues to be throughout the tour and Mark ensured there was plenty of hand sanitizer available throughout the day. Well done Mountain Goat for a brilliant day, and to Mark for sharing his knowledge with the group.

Our driver Tony was a perfect guide he knew all the best spots for views and photo shots. He was such a careful driver especially over the passes which were hair raising. His commentary showed how knowledgeable he is and so passionate about the landscape. We had a great day. There were 6 of us in the coach which was air conditioned and very comfy there was no rush to be at the next stop we all took our time. We stopped for lunch at a pub in Boot and managed to watch the steam train pull into the local station. One of our last stops was at Muncaster Castle to watch a bird of prey show before going back to our hotel with a few stops on the way. All in all a super day.
We were very lucky to have Tony as our driver he’s a great chap with a lovely sense of humour.

This was our first time visiting The Lakes and the day was the most incredible introduction to what it has to offer. The Tour Leader Tony was fantastic. He was incredibly skilled at navigating some interesting terrain (including the steepest road in England!) He was also very knowledgeable about the National Park, giving the perfect balance of informative commentary and time to sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I would have been far too nervous to attempt to drive the routes we went through today so I am so pleased a tour like this exists so that we still got to experience some of the best of what The Lakes has to offer. Highlights of the day for me were the view from Langdale, Wast Water and seeing the sun set at Coniston. I would highly recommend this tour. Thank you to Tony and Mountain Goat for a great day!

A well-organized and interesting tour a little different from the typical lake side tours. Despite the spotty weather, we still got to see some brilliant views as we climbed up various mountain passes in the day. And, as Mark, our wonderful tour guide, guaranteed everyone, when it rains, we get to see the waterfalls - it was as atmospheric as he said it would be!

Despite the weather (storm Francis) we had a great day out on the high adventure tour! Cannot speak highly enough of our tour guide Mark. He was kind, caring, funny and put everyone at ease throughout the entire trip. Right from the moment he picked us up he was positive and upbeat and his enthusiasm for the Lake District shone through all day. He was so knowledgeable on the area and told great stories! There were plenty of good stops en route and lovely cafes to refresh, lunch at the Bootes Inn was hearty pub food, just what was needed! The highlight of the day for us was definitely Wast Water which was incredible despite the weather! Would definitely recommend this trip and plan to return again in the future for another one!

We got picked up at 9:40am and the tour lasts for 8 hours.
I can honestly say it was one of the main highlights of our trip to the Lake District.
If you want to see all the great sights and learn the extensive history of yhis beautoful part of Britain, then I can't recommend this tour enough.
I want to give a special mention to Kevin, our tour guide. Such a funny, friendly and knowledgeable man who really looks after you on the trip. You are in safe hands with this man.

In the words of Wallace and Grommit it was ‘A grand day out ‘ Spectacular scenery very atmospheric with swirling clouds over Wrynose and Hardknott passes all in the capable hands of Mark with superb knowledgeable commentary. Wastwater was stunning -we thought this tour was amazing and Mark kept everyone entertained with his wit all day. A tour to remember.

The whole day was a joy. The driver in particular provided a very informative commentary and also demonstrated excellent driving courtesy, given the number of times one has to stop or reverse on narrow roads. The route was well chosen and the stopping points all had their own interest.
The standards were high in every respect.

Does the tour involve driving on the edge of mountains / hillsides I’m particularly freaked out by driving on the edge of steep mountain or hillsides , especially by someone else however good a driver they are . If there are no sheer drops on either immediate side I’m ok .
I’m interested to do this tour if I get up to the lakes , so be helpful to know .
Thank you 😊

Yes I,m afraid there are drops but this the nature of the tour,to show you the true nature of the area, please still go as the drops are a small part of the tour.
Do u have parking space at the pick up point?
