What to Expect
After being picked up from near the Chateau Frontenac, take a short, scenic ride to the nearby Island of Orleans. Once on the island, visit 5 establishments where you sample a variety of Quebecois specialties, including handmade chocolate, ice cider, and cassis. Stop at a vineyard for a wine tasting with views of the Beaupré coast, and then continue on to a sugar shack to learn about the production of maple syrup. My daughter and I enjoyed this excursion immensely. Our guide Celine was a wealth of knowledge about the island and Quebec history generally. The tastings of Cassis spirits, Apple ice wine, nougats and the Belgian chocolates were scrumptious. Well worth doing.
