The Maligne Canyon Ice Walk Tour covers approximately 3.5 kms (2.1 miles) of mostly downhill terrain where you will explore incredible ice caves, frozen waterfalls, and ice formations. Participants are required to dress appropriately for the weather.  Transportation is included and pick-ups are available from all Jasper accommodations.  Please indicate your shoe size when booking as warm boots and ice cleats will be provided.

What to Expect
Arrange to be picked up from your hotel or meet your guide at the downtown tour offices for the ride to Maligne Canyon, the deepest accessible gorge in the Canadian Rockies. Dress warmly for the experience, which runs in the morning or in the afternoon, for your convenience. Winter boots and ice cleats are provided for your trek across the frozen river. Explore ice caves and frozen waterfalls from the valley floor, as your guide tells the story of the gorge, the geology that formed it, and the history of the area. The Maligne Canyon ice walk is an active way to spend a few hours—not all the winter activities in Jasper involve the ski hills! End the tour at your selected drop-off point in town.

Wonderful experience for our family of four!. We took a tour, cleats were given to us which helped walking with confidence on the ice. We walked for about 3 hrs however, were not able to get inside the caves as the ice was not hard enough to hold people walking on it.
