Meet a guide at 1pm in the heart of historic Merida. After a short ride in an air-conditioned minivan, arrive at a local market rarely visited by tourists. The guide navigates the labyrinth of stalls, pointing out ingredients you may not recognize on your own.
Return to the minivan after purchasing ingredients for the afternoon cooking class. On arrival at the home of a local family, choose from a selection of traditional recipes, including black-bean tostadas and fried tortillas.
Experience a side of Mexico rarely available to visitors as the host family takes you through the recipe. During the cooking class, the guide teaches you about how the cuisine, traditions, and history of the Yucatan differ from the rest of Mexico.
After enjoying the meal in good company, the guide arranges a taxi back to central Merida (own expense).
