Overview

Chichen Itza is an ancient Maya city in Mexico that was abandoned in the 15th century. Now a UNESCO World Heritage-listed archaeological park, its intact temples and famous stepped pyramids may be explored during this comprehensive guided tour, which tops off fun-filled history lessons with a swim in a sacred limestone waterhole. A savory buffet lunch is included.

What to Expect

Your tour will begin with hotel pickup in a comfortable private vehicle, where you can settle back for a scenic ride to Chichen Itza, one of the Yucatan’s most spectacular sites.

Learn firsthand about the people that inhabited this ancient Maya capital. The incredible, well-preserved ruins are difficult to understand without a knowledgeable guide, but you'll see the once-thriving city brought back to life with fun-filled and informative stories.

Learn about the history and culture of the powerful Mayas, from their unique pantheon of gods to high-tech astronomical discoveries. Admire the stone-carved serpent heads on the gigantic stepped pyramid of El Castillo and discover the deadly secrets behind Juego de Pelota (Great Ball Court), where sports tournaments ended in human sacrifices.

After touring the park—the Yucatan’s largest archaeological site—stop for an authentic buffet lunch. Before heading back to your hotel, you’ll have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cool off in a limestone swimming hole, known as a cenote. Considered sacred by the Mayas, these underwater caverns make for a memorable dip.

The tour ends when your private vehicle drops you off at your hotel.

The bus picks up all along the resort district in Cancun so yes it will pick up at the dock. However the timing could be an issue. Call them directly and ask.
