What to expect
Make your way to dock at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef to board the 54-foot (16-meter) 'Cat' for your 3-hour sailing and snorkeling excursion. Find a comfortable spot on deck in the sun or shade. Meet the friendly captain and crew as you sail into the azure waters and watch the shoreline of St Thomas recede. On your way to the uninhabited Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge's Turtle Cove, get fitted for a snorkel, mask and flippers if you're interested in snorkeling. Alternatively, you can choose to lounge on board the boat or take a swim. When you arrive at your destination, don your equipment and dive in. Admire multicolored coral reefs, inhabited by an abundance of tropical fish. Watch the Virgin Island's resident Green Sea Turtles gliding along, munching on the plentiful sea grasses. After snorkeling, climb back on the catamaran for snacks and drinks - fruit and vegetables, water, a variety of non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic cocktails, wine and beer. Relax on the way back to the dock, enjoying the Caribbean sun and breeze. Finish your tour after 3 hours and walk away with a complimentary pirate temporary tattoo to show for it.

This excursion was worth every dime. We had a great time and after snorkeling our cups were never empty. The chips and salsa were also terrific. If you get a chance to go don't doubt yourself, book now. The crew were super nice and patient with us being 1st time snorkelers.

VI Cat will not disappoint!
Jun 2021 • Family
Captain Joe, Catie & Serena were perfect hosts. Safety was key. Serena pointed out marine life and was very knowledgeable. During our return we were waited on with drinks and snacks. It was a "just right" afternoon swimming with sea turtles, stingrays and cool fish.

Turtle cove on the VO Cat is a must do!
Capt Joe, Cat& Serena were fantastic! Very professional crew but made the experience so much fun!
The weather was perfect, sailing was great & the snorkel was a fun adventure. We did see turtles, a juvenile black Moreau eel, parrot fish, squirrel fish, wrasse, conch, some big soldier crabs! It was great to see the corals growing as this island suffers much from hurricane damage. The reefs are recovering and full of life!

So much sea life! That’s so cool that you got the chance to see all of that at once, kmockert. Not many places you can! That’s why the beauty of the Virgin Islands is unmatched. Thank you for your review.

Fun Family Experience
Jun 2021 • Family
Fun experience! The crew did a good job explaining what we needed to do. Snorkeling in Turtle Bay was great! Saw lots of pretty fish and a couple turtles. They got in the water and gave encouragement to the two children in our group as they snorkeled for the first time. The catamaran had steps that went down to water level, making it easy to get in and out. Would definitely recommend this!

This is a must do!
Jun 2021 • Couples
My wife and I are in St Thomas for our honeymoon. This is something she has wanted to do forever and this excursion was everything she wanted it to be. The crew was absolutely amazing especially given the tight restrictions put on them in these times. Captain Joe, Katie, and Fernando were extremely welcoming upon arrival. After the rundown of rules and safety precautions it became an adventure we will always remember. After a short 30 minute trip we saw and swam with multiple sea turtles (which of course we didn't touch) and stingrays being led by Fernando. We were able to snorkel around on our own for a bit before we reboarded and we're treated to wonderful "pain killers" rum punch by Katie before heading back to St Thomas. Captain joe was amazing with his knowledge of the area and the waters around it. If I could give 10 stars I would. Do yourself a favor and book this early. We might do it again before we leave.

A true Barefoot Cruise
Jun 2021
First- this is a true barefoot cruise. You will leave your shoes at the dock before you even get on the boat. If you bought that "perfect pair of shoes" for the boat, you're wasting your time.

This was such a great trip! Unfortunately we didn't see any turtles, but we did see two manta rays, several fish and beautiful coral. The captain and crew made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Captain Joe was very much in command and he made sure we got there and back safely. My family enjoyed the tattoos and proudly showed them off the rest of the trip.

Note: if you're going during a time of COVID, they are very serious about following the rules of the governor. Masks must be worn when walking about (unless you're about to get in the water). You can't hang out around the bar (don't worry, they do a good job of serving you where you sit). If they break the rules they get shut down, so be patient.

Thank you for the detailed review, smfitch0624. We appreciate your accurate description of our cove protocol as well as the fun notes on the coral, sea rays and tropical fish you got to see!
