About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- DallasFoodie0520 contributionsDon’t miss this one! What a wonderful experience. The chef had excellent recipes, and allowed us to do the cooking, rather than just observing. We had a tour of the beautiful on sight garden , where the ingredients were grown… fresh and delicious. Three courses & cocktails. Loved every minute. Highly recommend!Written March 18, 2024

- George K0 contributionsThe rain forest is beautiful 😍Firstly, massive thank you to Jacqueline from Barefoot Adventures for her excellent communication from the moment of booking to confirming exact time of pick up from our hotel. The rain forest main entrance is set up well. You show your booking, then given tickets to give to the guides. There's lots going on from the tram ride to zip lining, though we had booked the hiking. There are clean, well kept toilets. A lovely cafe and gift shop at the entrance point. Our guide Joel took us with 3 other hikers. Joel is incredibly knowledgeable, explaining so much about the forest, plantlife, trees, critters and animals. It was fascinating. The hike took about 2.5 to 3 hours (including a break at the top of the tram station), I didn't clock the time exactly. Its a moderate level hike with inclines, declines, and varying terrain. There were handrails and steps at points, though I recommend a hiking stick as that's particularly useful on the way back down. If you have a dodgy knee give this one a miss. And it's a rain forest so expect high humidity. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Joel was great, the rain forest is beautiful, the hike is mainly under the cover of the trees so it was nice not having the beating sun on us. Our hiking group were lovely and a pleasure to share this experience with. Recommend this for those of you who like walking and have a decent level of fitness.Written February 3, 2024
- 20jeanned0 contributionsToo much time in traffic. We ended the tour early because we had spent so much time in traffic and it was raining. Of the four-hour tour, we spent 80 minutes shopping. The rest of the time was spent sitting in traffic and driving. That is over two and a half hours spent in the van. It was not the driver’s fault, but this tour is not really what I thought it would be. The time spent in the market may have been local artisans, but every stall had the exact same items, and many were mass produced.Written January 29, 2024
- JorgeparaSaoMiguel0 contributionsAsk for Samuel (if you can)Samuel picked us up at our hotel. Just a really great guide. Full of life and stories. We first drove down to the Bounty rum distillery and made stops along the way to taste some island treats and buy some souveniers. We really enjoyed the rum tastings. Not rushed at all. After going through the tour of the distillery you get a chance to taste I would say about 12 different rums and you can really take your time. Then once you decide you go to the company store and buy some. Then we drove to Castries to the market. Its the typical kind of trinkets but what the heck the people are not pushy and you can find most of the souveniers you are looking for there. You can also eat lunch there if you choose. Absolutely worth the experience and Sam is fantastic.Written January 26, 2024
- D4027XJ_0 contributionsCatamaran ride and much moreExcellent tour, Highly recommended, wonderful time to spend a day. Lots to do and see on that tour. Reasonably priced too.Written January 22, 2024
- Heather W0 contributionsWoohoo ZipliningTaley and Jeffrey were excellent tour guides. They made the adventure even more fabulous. Recommend this adventure for others to do.Written January 15, 2024
- Freya C0 contributionsVery short rum tourThe tour of the rum distillery took us all of 20 minutes. We listened to some audio character recordings and then a short video. The guide then took us into one distillery room and showed us some ingredients ….. and that was it. We then went to the tastings. There were a lot of rums there and could try all of them if you wanted. Samuel our driver was great and very informative and friendly but we had already been around that area of the island a few times on other tours, so didn’t really see anything new. We got caught in a lot of traffic too so it was a pretty long drive for a very short run tour. He did stop us off at a road side shop and Castries too. The experience was okay but we were a bit disappointed with the rum tour as it didn’t really include a lot.Written December 22, 2023

- Berg19480 contributionsNot what it was advertised to be50 people jammed on a catamaran. The sales never went up, not what I would call a full day of sailing on a catamaran no place to sit loud music certainly not what it was advertised to be I would find someplace something else to do next time a lot of money for this type of tour.Written December 7, 2023

The hospiltality at each destination is rated 5 out of 5.Excellent day out of the tour with wxceptional people we met along our day of travels. - EmilyC6250 contributionsJust don'tTalk about frustrating! Certainly pleasant in the surface but then when things don't go well, there is very little assistance. Also, if you book your transfer roundtrip, you will be absolutely price gouged if you change hotels!!! I suggest booking through viator or Expedia or even Airbnb!!!Written November 15, 2023

- 509coleb0 contributionsLand Eh, Sea yeahWe were supposed to see the mud baths(stunk awful there), diamond waterfall and botanical garden, and another waterfall. Got gypped on botanical garden and diamond waterfall. Melinda our tour guide was great tho. On the sea aspects the boat was nice, the crew other than an older man and a woman were super helpful and friendly, the snorkeling was AMAZING! And the guy that swam out with you was super nice and helpful. It was annoying though they let pedlers pull up to boat and annoy us. All in all a worthwhile tripWritten November 5, 2023
- Jennifer9510 contributionsGreat experienceChef Jules and his team were exceptional! I wish I has written down all the ladies that helped on the tour and cooking, Silvia (sp) was very informative with the history of the garden and the island. She was funny with her jokes and warm and welcoming to us the entire time she helped us with the tour and rum shot at the end. Chef Jules organized a great fulfilling menu for appetizers, entree and dessert. My family and I hope to go there again the next time we visit Saint Lucia.Written September 2, 2023

Great trip with a very knowledgeable guide called George. There were only 6 people on the tour which made it a bit more personal. Drive through the islands banana plantations & rainforest to reach our destinations.
We got to tour the volcano springs with an interesting commentary from a local expert.
My only reason for not giving a 5 star review was that I would've liked longer to visit the botanical gardens.

An excellent introduction to Saint Lucia. Our guide George was entertaining and very knowledgable. The views of the Pitons, the volcano and the Botanical Gardens were highlights. Georges knowledge of plants and their uses made the gardens visit particularly enjoyable

We had a great tour with Stan who was very knowledgeable. On this trip we went through Castries. Saw how bananas are grown and had lots of photo stops on route to Soufriere & different views of the Pitons. The Botanical gardens & Waterfall were lovely. Thank you Stan for making it a interesting trip.

Picked up by Sammy (Davis) at the port.
He is very friendly and has a wealth of information. We stopped at great picture spots like the view of the Pitons ,
and saw several fishing villages and saw pineapples, bananas, avocados, cashews and guava growing wild. We stopped at a local vendor and tasted homemade items. We had a tour guide at the Morne Coubaril Estate and the drive in volcano. Sammy knows everyone!
Only negatives is that you do not see any of the islands beaches and we did not stop for lunch(bring a snack). Not sure what happened, but this tour did not take us to the waterfall.

Great to hear from you. Sammy is very knowledgeable and we are happy that he made your trip enjoyable.
Unfortunately, this tour does not offer a stop at the waterfall but some of our other tours do. With regards to lunch, it is not included but you can definitely carry a snack or grab something along the way.

We disembarked our cruise ship at Castries and soon found the Barefoot rep in a red t-shirt and with a name board. There were 6 of us and our driver/guide Samuel in a comfortable air-conditioned van - us from our ship, a couple from another cruise ship and a couple from a hotel. Samuel was very knowledgeable and interesting, but our big test was his quiz on the way back! We set off at 8.45 am and were back at the dock at 2.30 pm - slightly longer than the advertised 5 hours. We spent time in Castries before heading up the hill past the Governor-General's mansion to the university, where we saw the calabash tree with its huge green pod. We stopped at a roadside stall in a banana plantation - prices were quite similar anywhere we visited on the island. The road to Soufriere soon becomes very (very!) windy and we stopped at a few viewpoints of the Gros and Petit Pitons. Entry and walking tour of the "drive-in volcano" was included in our tour price. At the Botanical Gardens Diamond Falls, entry was included but the first thing that was pointed out to us was a big sign advising us to tip the volunteer guide at the end of the tour - no problems as June was very friendly and shared her knowledge well. The gardens were beautiful and well worth seeing. There were a few more scenery stops on the way back to Castries. The tour was well organised, informative and enjoyable. The cost of the tour was US$78 each and it was a great introduction to St Lucia.
