Overview
Journey into the tropical rain forest near Puerto Plata to explore the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua, a series of cascading waterfalls, canyons, and bright azure pools. Trek to the 12th waterfall or all the way to the top of the 27th with a local guide, and then jump, swim, and slide your way back down. Afterwards, refuel with a Dominican buffet-style lunch. Plus, hotel pickup and drop-off from Puerto Plata is included.
What to Expect
From your Cabarete, Sosua or Puerto Plata hotel, you will be picked up by your friendly guide who will accompany you throughout the tour. During the ride you will receive some local information of interest and a short safety briefing.

On arrival at the 27 Falls of Damajagua Park you will leave the transport where you can leave a bag with your valuables, towel, dry clothes and flip flops for after the tour. Your guide will introduce you to the local waterfall guides who will be looking after you and you’ll be issued with a life jacket, helmet and a bottle of water for the hike up. If you want to take photos or video on the tour please only bring waterproof cameras. From this point on everything will get wet!

A moderate 40 minute uphill hike through a beautiful jungle landscape gets you to the 12th waterfall or, if you are in excellent physical shape, choose to hike all the way to the top of the 27 waterfalls (approximately 70 minutes) and experience it all.  Either way, your real fun begins as we head back down-river and you jump, slide and swim your way through a series of spectacular waterfalls, canyons and azure pools, emerging with a silly grin on your face and incredible memories to cherish! The tours include jumps of up to 25 feet (8 meters) but don't worry, the big ones have another way down if you don't want to jump.

After a 15-minute walk back to base camp and changing into your dry clothes, enjoy a delicious and varied Dominican buffet lunch, which includes things like barbecued chicken and pork, stews, rice, pasta and salads. Local rum drinks, sodas and water are included (beer is available but not included). After the meal, say goodbye to the local guides and board the transport for the ride back to your hotel.

Amazing excursion, led by an amazing tour guide!

Raul from Iguana Mamas was stellar at guiding this tour! Not only were the waterfalls amazing, but Raul was a very accommodating guide! I would HIGHLY recommend this excursion to anyone visiting. The food at the end of the tour was also excellent!

Fun adventure

Tour guides were great. Fun hike, and good scenery. Good meal afterward. Although we did not book with the cruise line, we ran into plenty of cruise line passengers, and the canyon felt very crowded in the bottom 7 waterfalls, but the upper falls, where...More

Hola SpencerL! Many thanks for choosing our 27 Waterfalls shore excursion and this great review and recommendation. We also wish Carnival would limit the number of people they bring to the park but we don't think that will ever happen. Thanks for spreading the word...More

Great experience

The title is somewhat misleading. You will not see waterfalls that look like Niagara Falls but a set of smaller rapids. You also will not see 27 falls but 12. That aside this was one of the most fun excursions we have experienced. The jumps...More

Hola 2RedSquirrels! Thanks for joining us and sharing your thoughts! You are absolutely right! In Spanish the park is called 27 Charcos de Damajagua and who knows how many years ago it was mistranslated to 27 Waterfalls. The word charcos actually means pools or lagoons....More

Yes! You can most definitely go even if you can't swim. You have life jackets on the entire time and they will bring you to the surface. The guides are very attentive and will hold onto your life jacket before you jump... More
