- K7644RYkristens0 contributionsWe all need a hero like HiroHirofumi our Kyoto guide was personable and respectful, caring for our family from start to finish. We leant so much from him during our tour and he is such a capable and professional asset to tourists and to beautiful Japan. Thank you Hiro, we will always remember your grace and the knowledge you shared.Written February 4, 2025

- timtO337NY0 contributionsThank you for a fantastic tour of Kyoto. Ookini! As we only had 3 days in Kyoto, we needed to ensure that this leg of the journey was done efficiently. There are other tour guide options on the list, but we opted for the one with a government-licensed guide (6 hours total, including transport to help us quickly navigate between the locations). The tour guide assigned to our tour was Kazu. Communication with him was fantastic from the start (he was fluent in English and reached out to help us plan the tour as soon as the tour was booked). He first asked us about places we would like to visit and the type of tour we wanted (Zen temples vs. modern history, etc.), and he suggested a couple of hidden-gem alternatives and time to spend in each location. He also sent us another e-mail 3 days before the tour to confirm the details again (in case there was a change of plan and we wanted to visit different locations) and re-confirm the time/ location where he would wait for us (which was our hotel lobby). On the day, he met us at 10:30am sharp and provided a quick 10 minutes of the background of the tour (significance of the locations) and the history of Kyoto. The handmade map that Kazu created was handy, too. After the prep, our driver came to pick us up. The car was spacious and clean, and the driver was professional. When we made our way to each destination, Kazu and the driver would discuss the routes to take (i.e., any roadblocks/ restrictions set by the city for the day), making sure to take us as close to the destination as possible. With their knowledge, we got to each location quickly and avoided many roads where one could be stuck in traffic for a long time. Every location was enriched with Kazu's knowledge. He knew which alleys to avoid the crowds and helped us navigate the various popular destinations. He also knew hidden-gems in each location, and his government-licensed pass also granted us special access to some of the extra rooms/ locations that were usually blocked off for other tourists. We could soak in the environment and not worry about photos since Kazu also took some great pictures for the group. We also really appreciated that although we covered four locations (plus lunch) in 6 hours, the tour didn't feel rushed. Kazu also taught us some Kansai-ben (dialect that is used in major cities of the Kansai region, i.e., "ookini"), and this went down well with many local shop owners/ restaurants (especially with the older generations) where we had a couple of them giving us extra freebies after hearing these Kansai-ben phrases. Overall, we have nothing but fantastic things to say about Kazu and the tour. It made the trip just that much better, and we strongly recommend it.Written February 3, 2025

- juditec20250 contributionsSuper Knowledgeable Guide Junichi! This was perhaps the best trip we did in Japan! The park is incredibly large and beautiful with all of its temple buildings and shrines! And of course, the ever-present deer made it all even more magical. The real highlight of the tour, however, was our guide Junichi! He’s a really enthusiastic and knowledgeable person. We definitely learned a lot with him and couldn’t be happier with this experience!Written February 2, 2025

- Randomthoughts4u0 contributionsEnjoyable Autumn Day in Nikko with very competent guideWe spent a full day with Mr. Yoshi Kenichi. He was a wonderful tour guide. We met him in NIkko and prior to meeting him he provided us with clear travel information to get there from Tokyo and also we planned a day according to our interests. It was perfect. We saw three waterfalls and hiked through relatively easy paths to get to them. He also showed us many surprises and told us about the area and its historical significance. He provided many suggestions and we accomplished a great deal as we only had one day available in Nikko. I highly recommend Mr. Kenichi as your guide in Nikko and elsewhere.Written January 31, 2025

From the moment we saw her we felt at home...like you feel spending time with a loving (and cool) aunt. She made seeing the entire city seamless, and her special touches, like giving us local candy, made the experience even that more magical. So thankful for her...and happy for you if you get the opportunity to have her as your guide. ReviewWritten January 30, 2025

Our tour with Seizo was excellent. He was punctual, efficient, funny, and very knowledgeable. The itinerary was perfectly curated and he was very responsive before the trip to make sure the day went smoothly and aligned with our goals. I highly recommend this tour, and for a family of 4 it was no more expensive than a group tour but much more enjoyable and intimate.

Thank you very much for your very valuable and favorable comments on my guiding.
It was a great honor for me to have the opportunity to guide your family in Tokyo.
I myself enjoyed visiting several sightseeing spots in Tokyo with you including a nice lunch at a ramen restaurant near Tokyo Station.
I wish you and your family the very best for the future.
Best Regards

We had an amazing time with our tour guide Yumi (Yumiko Watanabe)! She contacted me well in advance of our trip and helped plan out a full day that would be ideal for for our family of 4 (we have two children, ages 8 and 11). Even when rain threatened to ruin our tour day, she helped by coming up with ideas for things that we could do indoors (she was very knowledgeable). She was great with our children and we all felt completely comfortable with her. We're pretty self-sufficient but it was so helpful to have someone who knew her way around and could help us with transportation and translation where needed (and her English is excellent). I would not hesitate to recommend Yumi to anyone looking for a guide when they come to visit to Tokyo.

We had the best time and experience with Miya. She knew just the right spots, at the right time: avoiding crowds without missing anything. My wife and I had the chance to share our preferred itinerary and she took us there without missing anything. She coordinated the visits in such a way that you do not miss time.
She was really helpful with local tips regarding using the subway, Japan culture, information of every site we visited.
Also, she helped us avoiding tourist traps; as there are plenty everywhere and really expensive sometimes. For example, a the local market, plenty of places to go (some really crowded) and the experience is not worth the money nor the waiting lines. She knew where to be.
Overall, she was super communicative, really kind, helpful, and she gave us some present gifts upon arrival for our honeymoon memoirs

We had a wonderful guide in tokyo.
Hiromi was so responsive to our communication even before the trip
She
asked for our suggestions and supplied a written itinerary. She made reservations at a restaurant that would accommodate a food allergy and we even stopped at a few extra sites when we had time.
We would highly recommend this guided tour.

Thank you for your heartwarming review. I showed you around a lot of tourist spots. I was worried that I had tired you out from walking too much, but reading this review made me feel very relieved. I hope that you two smart people have a wonderful time traveling in Japan. Thank you for teaching me English pronunciation. It was a very enjoyable time. Take care. Hiromi

Our guide, Hiro Chikata, suggested an itinerary beforehand which we liked, also advising us it was subject to change as we might wish. Hiro was very knowledgeable and was able to answer our many questions. He also knew the transportation systems very well so we were able to maximize our coverage and time. After visiting the Tsukiji Outer Market we proceeded to the Imperial Palace where Hiro knew foreign ambassadors would be arriving by horse drawn carriage to present their credentials to the Emperor and we were able to witness the rare event which had only been announced the previous evening due to security protocols. We also went Asakusa to visit the Shrine and take in the view of the area from the top of the Asakusa Tourist Information Center. Hiro then took us to lunch at a wonderful small sushi restuarant after which we proceeded to Shibuya and the Meiji Jingu Shrine. We then walked down Omotesando Street and through a shopping mall there before parting ways. Hiro actually stayed longer than he was scheduled to and made sure we got back on the correct subway line before leaving us. We never would have experienced and learned about what we did had we done it on our own. We highly recommend Hiro if you want an excellent tour of Tokyo

Delighted to learn that you are satisfied with the Tokyo Full-Day Tour of JGA.
You were very lucky to grab an opportunity to see the first horse-drawn credentials dedication ceremony this autumn held in the Imperial Palace.
Since the Sushi Bar we went to has only 8 chairs, I have invited very limited guests only. It has well preserved the Edo nigiri tradition. HIRO

Koji crafted the perfect tour itinerary based on the list of things that I wanted to see. He took me all over the city of Tokyo and explained the history and culture of the attractions that we visited. And he suggested a ramen restaurant that blew my mind. I highly recommend Koji if you’re looking for a fantastic tour of Tokyo!

Booking this tour was one of the best decisions of our trip! Our wonderful guide Naoko was very accommodating and was a great assistance in planning the best use of our time. Thanks to her we were able to see and experience so many great things and everywhere we went was able to share information and history about the sites we visited. It was great having an asset like her to ask one-on-one questions and discuss the history, culture (and pop-culture) this beautiful country has to offer. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants to make the best use of fun filled afternoon in the city.

Alex was an amazing guide who truly made our Tokyo experience unforgettable! He was not only knowledgeable and cultured, but also brought a depth of insight and first-hand experience to our tour. His punctuality was on point as he always arrived within minutes of us contacting him, even in the most crowded areas.
Alex was flexible and attentive to our plans and needs. He gave us all the time we needed at each stop, allowing us to fully absorb the history, culture, and beauty of each location. He went above and beyond to share additional context and stories that brought each site to life. What added to the experience was that he shared his own tips and tricks for making the most of each location.
Beyond Alex's expertise, he was also personable. He was an awesome conversationalist; he had a genuine interest in our lives and perspectives. This made the tour feel more like a shared journey of discovery with a friend than a traditional guided tour.
If you're looking for a guide in Tokyo, look no further than Alex!

We visited wonderful places and took so many nice pictures! We had an unforgettable experience on our first day in Tokyo.
Our guide Andy (Atsushi Tanaka) communicated with us well in advance to provide suggestions for our eight hour walking tour with explanations of all the sites he recommended we should visit, and once we made our selection, he provided a nice detailed itinerary for the day. Andy is very knowledgeable and introduced us to the history and culture in Japan, explained how to navigate in the public transportation system, took us to a wonderful restaurant at lunch time and to places where we sampled local snacks and street food and bought traditional art. Everything was perfect and we were so happy with this experience. I am glad we decided to take the two hours extension in our tour, it was worth it every minute.
I highly recommend Andy and this private walking tour of Tokyo.

I take my hat off to you for your strong physical strength. I was quite surprised that you easily completed an 8-hour walking tour the day after arriving in Japan and then walked from Shinbashi to Akihabara the next day. Unfortunately, there was a strong wind on the day of the tour, but I hope you enjoyed yourself regardless of that. I hope you enjoyed shopping and bought lots of souvenirs. We were very lucky to see three portable shrines lined up in front of the shrine in Asakusa. You will be returning to Tokyo at the end of the month, so please enjoy the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

After booking the private tour, we were immediately contacted by the agency with information about how it would work and that the tour guide they matched us with would contact us via email, which she did promptly. This was a great benefit because our guide, Michie, communicated with us regularly as I was finalizing other aspects of the trip and she had wonderful and valuable advice that made things so much smoother. Michie went well beyond our expectations by providing excellent ideas before we even arrived in Tokyo not only about this part of our trip but for the rest of it, too.
Michie designed a custom itinerary for us based on interests we expressed in the email communication. This was very valuable as it allowed my first trip to Tokyo to fulfill all of my expectations and then some. For example, I told her about my interest in book-making and Japanese paper so she made sure to bring me to a market that offered a workshop on making paper that was a great experience after the tour was complete. Also, her commentary and excellent English allowed us to better understand the ceremonies at the Buddhist and Shinto Temples we visited. My daughter is a big fan of Hello Kitty so she made sure we got to see the store with the giant Hello Kitty facia that is 3 stories tall. Altogether, Michie was committed to making sure we got to see what we wanted while also filling-in the details about her beloved native city to us.

Hi, I would like to do the Full-Day Private Tour. Can I choose Tokyo Disney Sea (4 hrs) and perhaps one or two of the other attractions to make the full day? I am staying near Nakano Station in an apartment so where would I meet my guide? Thank you
Written January 1, 2023
I would do Disney on your own and do other things on the list with the guide. Disney would take up your entire time really. I was with guide 5.5 hours and 1 was spent eating lunch.

I would like to have a 4-6 hr private tour where I 1) get hands-on training on how to use the subway and trains in Tokyo and 2) go to TeamLab Planets exhibition. And maybe see some other things around Tokyo that won’t be included in my booked structured 12 day Japan Tour with Globus. Would this be possible with this tour company? Thank you!

yes, the subway especially is very confusing. My guide gave me a better understanding and was very helpful. You can buy a rail card and top it up as required, easier to tap on and off with it. In peak hours it is extremely busy and confusing, try to avoid then.
