Stop At: Amber Fort, Devisinghpura, Amer, Jaipur 302001 India

Amer Fort was constructed by Raja Shri Maan Singh Ji I in the 16th century. He started the construction of the fort in the 1592. Maan Singh was Kacchwaha (Rajput) of Ruler of Amber, which is now known as Jaipur. During the construction of the temple, he also commissioned the construction of a small temple dedicated to Sheela Mata, his patron goddess. The fort clearly depicts the magnificent lifestyle of the Rajputs of those times. Additions and renovations were made in the fort complex later on. The mighty Amer Fort has stood against all the odds of time and invasions.

Maan Singh was one of the trustworthy generals and first war chiefs of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The Emperor also included him in his list of the ‘Navaratnas’ (Nine Jewels) of his court.

(PHOTO STOP AT JAL MAHAL )

Jal Mahal Jaipur, the Water Palace

Possibly the most serene sight amidst the chaos of Jaipur is the beautiful Jal Mahal Jaipur, the Water Palace. This low-rise symmetrical palace, that once was a shooting lodge for the Maharajah, appears to float in the centre of Sagar Lake. The light sand coloured stone walls of the Jal Mahal Jaipur are at a stark contrast to the deep blue of the waters of the lake, while from the innards of the palace lush foliage sprouts. This majestic scene makes the Jal Mahal Jaipur’s most photographed (and photograph friendly) monument

Stop At: Royal Gaitor Tumbas, Krishna Nagar, Brahmpuri, Jaipur 302002 India

Majestic, intricately carved stone monuments are the highlight at this royal crematory.

Stop At: City Palace of Jaipur, Tripolia Bazar Near Jantar Mantar, Jaipur 3023002 India

    City Palace

The palace was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. As most structures in Jaipur this palace also reflects the fusion of Mughal and Rajput architecture.

The City Palace complex is spread over a large area occupying one seventh of the old city of Jaipur. It has a sequence of gardens, buildings and courtyards, temple and museum to give it a grand view that reflects its historical importance and magnificent royal grace. Its outer boundary was built by Raja Jai Singh and other structures by his successors to add charm to it. It also served as a residence for former Maharaja of Jaipur.

Stop At: Jantar Mantar - Jaipur, Tripoliya Bazaar near entrance to City Palace, Jaipur 302020 India

Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory used to measure the distances and positions of celestial objects. India has a total of five such observatories the largest of which is in Jaipur.

The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur consists of 19 large instruments each serving a very specific purpose. The most significant among these is the Samrat Yantra which is the largest sundial in the country. The Jantar Mantar was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who from a very young age was fascinated by the movement of the celestial objects. The instruments at the Jaipur Jantar Mantar are made of stone and are very large structures. To ensure accuracy the structures were first made out of wood and the measurements were adjusted. Once the dimensions were perfected the construction was replicated in stone to give us the magnificent Jantar Mantar.

    Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Hawa Mahal - Palace of Wind, Hawa Mahal Tripolia Bazaar Road Badi Choupad, Jaipur 302002 India

(PHOTO STOP AT HAWA MAHAL )

Hawa Mahal is a palace in Jaipur, India. It is constructed of red and pink sandstone. The palace sits on the edge of the City Palace, Jaipur, and extends to the zenana, or women's chambers. The structure was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh.

    Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Albert Hall Museum, Agrasen Hospital Marg Adarsh Nagar, Jaipur 302004 India

(PHOTO STOP AT ALBERT HALL MUSEUM )

The building of Albert Hall Museum was built in 1876 as a concert hall. The museum gets its name from the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, because of the similarity of architecture. The foundation for the building started in 1876, when Prince of Wales visited Jaipur. When the building was constructed, the royals and government did not have any idea about usage of the building. It was initially used as Town Hall in 1880. Later, the King of Jaipur, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II suggested to use it as a museum for Industrial Arts. Later, the hall was used for displaying masterpieces of local artisans.

In 1881, the museum was at its prime beauty and people from across the country visited this museum to buy or enjoy handicrafts, artwork and other masterpieces. However, the building was under construction until 1887. Later, the museum started to showcase artifacts and ancient artworks along with budding artist’s masterpieces.
