Embarrassingly poor service + customer communication
Tokyo - JejuNorth Asia
I intentionally purchased a round-trip ticket from Jeju to Narita--a flight that only operates three times a week (Sun/W/F). I flew into Narita on Sunday 02/02 with no problem, but when I arrived three hours early at the check-in desk in Narita on 02/07 I was told to be on standby due to poor weather conditions on Jeju. Eventually, they announced that they would be rerouting to Incheon Airport on the mainland. The airline staff advised to either 1. cancel the ticket (and wait until the next flight on Sunday 02/09) or 2. take the flight to Incheon. Little did I know I would have to fend for myself. After many back and forth between calling customer service, my booking agency, and the Incheon Transfer desk, I was completely on my own. Everyone involved said they couldn't help me because I boarded the plane to Incheon and that the only situation that would involve any kind of refund would have been a cancellation before boarding the plane to Incheon. But would they have even paid for accommodation until the next flight on Sunday? Not sure, but I'm going to take a guess--PROBABLY NO. Here I am back home on Jeju, oh but it just cost me almost $200 out-of-pocket costs. $50 for a one-night stay in an Airbnb near Incheon airport, $30 taxi ride to Gimpo airport (40 minutes away since Incheon doesn't have flights to Jeju), then another $90 for the actual flight from Gimpo to Jeju the following day. In summary, due to the decision to board the plane that was rerouted to Incheon last minute, I ended up paying almost $200 out-of-pocket expenses for an already pricy round-trip ticket from Jeju to Narita. Thus I repeat, Korean Air has embarrassingly poor service and faulty customer communication. Korean Air needs clearer policies regarding last-minute changes due to weather conditions for international travelers to and from an island such as Jeju which is known for turbulent weather.

Great experience with the NYC Korean Air team! JFK to Manila flight with JFK lounge.
New York City - ManilaInternational
Highly recommended! My wife and I took Korean Air from JFK in New York City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, Philippines after booking during the Fiesta in America event in American Dream . Great customer services, Great comfortable seats, Great food, Great movies and TV shows, and Great lounge in JFK. It was an extreme delight to work with the Korean Air team in New York City since they provided great customer service when needed.

Most unfriendly airline for young kids never using them again.
Seoul - TorontoInternational
Most unfriendly airline for families, or possibly a racially biased airline. I was moved to Korean Air after missing our air canada connection. I had a seated infant and lap infant. Checked in our luggage and took our carry on pieces, 2 fold up strollers, 2 carry on bags, one for food/formula, one with toys/entertainment and a backpack with nappies/wipes. Got to the gate and the gate staff told me they were going to check in all off my carry on as there was no room on board! After refusing since I would be on a 14 hour flight with no food nappies or entertainment for young Colleen who can’t use the seat back entertainment, they allowed me to go through. Staff onboard said they will stow all my carry on in other locations. NO. I’m not asking for food and nappies and getting up and down with carry on cases each hour and disturbing everyone around me!! What is wrong with this airline that they want to make a living nightmare for parents with young kids?? Are they kidding me? Maybe because we were an Anglo family on an Asian airline - maybe they don’t feel as compassionate. I will never recommend their airline ever again what an absolute joke to think it’s okay to say no to a parent carrying baby food and nappies which they tell you to carry!! Horrible people. Never again.

Korean airlines sucks!!!
San Francisco - Phnom PenhInternational
I flew Korean Airlines before and I thought it was great but this time it was awful. My wife and I checked in at the San Francisco airport and they charged me an extra $400 for two carry on luggages because they said that they only allowed 10kg per person to go on board. An average empty luggage weight at 2 to 3 kg, how much clothes can you bring with you for a 3-4 weeks vacation across the world. I will never fly Korean airlines again unless they change their stupid rules. That is not the way to get more money from your customers. Also, counter agents were so rude.

Disastrous Experience with Korean Airlines – Never Again!
Seattle - DenpasarInternational
I cannot express how disappointed and frustrated I am with Korean Airlines. What was supposed to be a well-deserved break turned into a complete nightmare, all thanks to their incompetence and lack of customer care. The airline claimed that my flight from Seattle to Seoul was delayed due to "weather reasons because it’s very cold in Korea." If the weather was such a significant issue, why was I only notified at **6:18 AM**, just hours before my original 11 AM departure? This last-minute notice left me with no time to make alternative arrangements, completely ruining my travel plans. Because of their delay, I missed my connecting flight from Seoul to Denpasar (Bali), which was the entire purpose of my trip. Not only did I lose a day of my precious vacation, but I also had to forfeit the hotel I had already paid for in Bali. Korean Airlines gave no compensation for the hotel, and no support whatsoever. They simply shrugged and blamed the weather, as if that excuses their lack of accountability. Instead of a smooth journey, I now have to endure **three separate flights** totaling over **22 hours of travel time** (12 hours, then 7 hours, then 3 hours) just to reach my destination. This is not what I signed up for when I chose Korean Airlines. Their inability to plan ahead and communicate effectively has cost me time, money, and an incredible amount of stress. To make matters worse, this was my first holiday in a long time, and Korean Airlines has completely tarnished it. I lost a night in Bali, wasted money on a hotel I couldn’t use, and was left stranded without any meaningful support from the airline. Their customer service is nonexistent outside of smiling super hard and their refusal to take responsibility for their shortcomings is appalling. I will **never** fly with Korean Airlines again, and I strongly advise anyone considering them to think twice. There are far better airlines out there that actually care about their passengers and handle disruptions with professionalism. Korean Airlines, on the other hand, is a complete disaster. Save yourself the headache and avoid them at all costs.

Never fly KAL as a co-share. They don’t treat you as equal to a passenger that buys directly from their website.
