Our flight from El Nido to Manila, scheduled for 17:10, has been delayed until 21:30, which meant hours of waiting and being stranded at the boarding gate.
Only at check-in, we were told there the issue started this noon due to “something with the planes.” However, in the departure area, other passengers revealed the delays actually began LAST NIGHT. During this time period, we were not notified whatsoever in advance and only learned about it at check-in.
As compensation, we were offered one-way travel vouchers only to El Nido (1 year until expired btw) which is useless since we cannot use as we’re flying back to the U.S. soon and no plan for the next year. Essentially, we’ve been given nothing of value—aside from, perhaps, a McChicken meal for dinner, still at the boarding gate.
I requested cash compensation instead of the vouchers but was told this wasn’t an option. Meanwhile, other passengers reportedly received PHP 6,000–7,000 in refunds, overnight accommodations, and transfers to Puerto Princesa with a flight to Manila.
